Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

“We’ll be announcing,” Trump added. “They’re already under major investigation. A lot of the people that you would traditionally say are on the left [are] already under investigation.”

And yet again, the assassin is a CIS, White, Mormon, Maga Family Male.

"Robinson's grandmother said the entire family are Republicans and Trump supporters.[86] Robinson was registered to vote but not affiliated with any party, and there is no record of him voting in Washington County (of which St. George is the county seat).[1] Robinson had no criminal record prior to his arrest.[87]"

"Federal charging documents described Boelter as acting with "the intent to kill, injure, harass, and intimidate Minnesota legislators".[6] His anti-abortion views are considered a possible motive.[50] Boelter was registered to vote in Oklahoma as a Republican for the 2004 United States presidential election, though on a state document in 2019, Boelter wrote that he had "no party preference".[8] A longtime Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, resident who knew Boelter as a fourth-grade student in his childhood town since 1976, told reporters he was stunned to learn that Boelter is a suspect in the attacks. He described Boelter as "a conservative who voted for President Donald Trump and was strongly against abortion rights""

"Routh had a history of political activity online and offline, with his political engagement dating back to at least 1989.[34] Voting records showed that he did not vote in the 2016 elections,[35] but in a 2020 Twitter post, he claimed to have voted for Trump in 2016 and later regretted it.[36] In a self-published ebook in 2023, he wrote about his supposed previous support for Trump, saying, "I am man enough to say that I misjudged and made a terrible mistake."[37]"

"FBI deputy director Paul Abbate described Crooks's activity on social networking services as antisemitic, anti-immigrant, extreme, and espousing political violence.[138] Crooks's Internet activity before the attack included searches related to the 2021 Oxford High School shooting and for other politicians and their events.[139]

He was a registered Republican;[129][140][141] his voter registration had been active since September 2021, the month he turned 18.[142][129]"

How dare you! Why are you interrupting this time of national mourning with inconvenient facts?

Saw a few lowered flags when doing things this weekend, holy fuck does that annoy the shit out of me.

These shitbags could not even keep the flag lowered for Carter, FFS. A mother-fucking President, and one that was a 1000x better than this piece of shit in the WH.

And they have it lowered for a fucking podcaster? What are we even doing here? Most people didn't even know who the fuck Kirk was until this shooting. It was mostly the political wonks and the terminally online that even knew who he was....

Is now a good time to talk about gun control? How about now? Now? 😉

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago

"Gun Control? Do you mean, like, trigger discipline? I control my gun really well when I point it at people I don't like"

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 3 minutes ago

They don't care.
