Till not worth it, get linux
One word: Excel.
Nothing in the open source world comes close, even for me, a far-less-than-average user of Excel.
And then there's years of software I've used and own, and will have to find a replacement for, and figure out new ways of doing things I've done for 10+ years (more like 30+ years). Hell, I have close to 20 years of notes in OneNote. Transitioning that to anything else is a nightmare to even think about.
No thanks, I seriously don't have time for that, when I have extant Linux servers to manage.
"Just go Linux" is so tiresome because it's simplistic - there are so many things such a statement assumes and ignores - and I use Linux every day, just not as a desktop.

Sorry to say, we have a great spreadsheet that is open source and void of AI crap and needs NO subscription.
https://alternativeto.net/ - someone has already made a database on windows software alternatives.
This is exactly what M$ wants, thats why they force you to use it by default rather than storing your own information locally.
Now all you are doing is making poor excuses to stay the status quo
Considering they said they admin multiple Linux servers, I highly doubt they're unaware of LibreOffice.
Having used both, Calc is severely lacking in the ease of use department once you start trying to use it seriously with formulas and such. Some of that is familiarity, but it goes deeper than that.
