Community Voting System

This community serves to endorse proposals within the movement. The voting process is designed to ensure that all voices are heard and that decisions are made in the best interest of the collective.

Voting Stages

  1. Upvote/Downvote:

    • Users can vote on proposals by either upvoting or downvoting.
    • An upvote signals support for the proposal, while a downvote expresses opposition.
  2. Ranked Choice Voting:

    • Once the initial voting phase is completed, the proposals with the highest support move to a ranked choice voting round.
    • In this round, users will rank the proposals in order of preference.
  3. Approval:

    • The final approval will be given to the proposal that secures the majority support after the ranked choice voting is complete.

50501 Demands - Brainstorming and Debate

The following demands are up for discussion. Feel free to debate, refine, or add new concepts. These drafted demands will be listed on the 50501 website.

Remove

  • Removal of the Trump Administration, including Donald Trump, JD Vance, all Department Heads, appointees approved since January 20th, 2025, and corrupt members of Congress and SCOTUS.

Reverse

  • Revocation of all executive orders passed by the Trump Administration since January 20th, 2025 and restoration of orders and laws rescinded.

Reclaim our Economy

  • Implement a 2% annual tax on the net worth of households and trusts between $50 million and $1 billion.
  • Apply a 3% annual surtax on the net worth of households and trusts above $1 billion.
  • Close loopholes that allow the ultra-rich to evade paying their fair share and ensure that the wealthiest contribute to the prosperity of the nation.
  • Reclaim our economy from mega-corporations and billionaires. TAX THE RICH.

Restore

  • Restore democracy, due process, and freedom of speech and the press to prevent system abuses and oligarchic takeovers.

Reform

  • Reform the rights to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness for all citizens, including shutting down all for-profit prisons and detention centers.

Repeal

  • Repeal Citizens United and get dark money out of politics.

Immigrant Rights

  • End the mass deportation program and provide a pathway for citizenship for all immigrants targeted by ICE.
  • Abolish ICE and prosecute them.

Police Reform

  • Reform police practices, particularly in response to crackdowns on peaceful protestors and attacks on marginalized communities.

Equality and Anti-Discrimination

  • Reverse anti-DEI policies.
  • Make gender identity a protected class and protect gender-affirming care.

Affordable Housing

  • Build affordable housing.

Social Services

  • Reverse cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, NOAA/NWS, Department of Education, and USAID.

Freedom of Speech & Privacy

  • Freedom of Speech: Push back against the erosion of free speech where peaceful activists are unfairly associated with domestic terrorism, and language is targeted as anti-Semitic or hateful. Internet censorship, especially legalized under Free Speech Coalition v. Paxton, is not the solution.
  • Privacy: Demand stronger privacy protections against the surveillance state. We must prevent mandates for social media audits for visas and oppose mass-surveillance technologies, such as Flock, funded by DHS. The absence of real data laws, except in CA, must be addressed and reformed.

Prosecute Trump and His Cronies

  • Prosecute Donald Trump and his associates for their roles in undermining democracy, corruption, and abuse of power.

Let's brainstorm, debate, and refine these demands to ensure they represent our collective vision.

Technically, Citizens United is not a law, it is a decision resulting from the Citizens United vs. FEC supreme court case that, more or less, made equivalent monetary expenditure and speech. This can be legislated against, but may face similar challenges in front of the Supreme Court up and until corporations don't enjoy legal personhood (this would also potentially make corporate officers, rather than the entity of the corporation itself, liable for the actions of a corporation, and possibly criminally so). Regardless, this can't be repealed per se, it needs to be legislated, and potentially amended, against.
