Overview:

The community dedicated to boycotting the US until they stop fascism, restore full democracy and start following international law.

Americans have a moral obligation to resist Donald Trump and project 2025 at every turn.

America is a flawed democracy currently being ruled by oligarchs. Stop the backslide! Dont let America become the next Hungary.

America needs to challenge the court rulings of citizens united v. fec and shelby county v. holder, protect the media, implement independent district drawing, and the single transferable vote so they don't end up having people stay home in life-changing elections because they cannot vote for their favourite candidate.

Holy crap. The fascism is happening even faster than I imagined.

don't think of that starting point as being January 20, 2025, think of it being in 2015 when djt announced his candidacy. fascism, like bolshevism, neoliberalism, anarchocapitalism, enlightened centrism, and anarchism is a street religion.

sigh

The sound of jackboots marching in lockstep is something people with an ear for them could hear in the '90s already. Trump is an expression of American culture rot—a symptom—not the cause.

The cause of the USA's decline dates a lot further back than 2015. It dates back to the Southern Strategy that began when I was only beginning to get out of diapers. And the blame falls squarely on the architects of it, as well as those who sleep-walked through the subsequent decades of obvious rising fascism.

I was going to say it started with the Tea Party movement in the 2000s. The Republican party has been regressive for a long time but the tea party represented a firm shift toward populism.

fair. it's been a simmering thing ever since white men landed in virginia. it's boiled over several times. i just meant we have to track DJT's fascist parallels to hitler not based on his second inauguration

Sorry mod deleted my comment. I think they misunderstood.

I was asking what year did this “Southern Strategy” begin? (You mentioned it was when you were in diapers, so I was jokingly playing along with that. But not knowing how old you are, that doesn’t give me a frame of reference.)
