I feel so sorry for Patty. She has the unfortunate mix of muscle, attractiveness, nerdiness and popularity that creates a following of neckbeardy guys and parasocial girls.
Reading some of the comments on her recent videos with the new bf makes me put down the phone, walk outside and sit in the sun.
I'm sure the comments are atrocious. But I certainly dont feel bad for her. Fame is a conscious descision that one must maintain. She could simply stop posting today, and quietly delete all her social media over the next year or so, and her notariety would all but disappear. She is famous, making bank, and is a sex icon - as far as hedonistic indulgence goes, I'd say she's doing pretty alright!
And if she has any sense at all (and I believe she does), she'll have long ago gotten off social media herself and handed everything over to a social media manager. She does a few photoshoots per year, plus a few fanservice videos when her manager tells her it would do her good, and then she goes off and goes clinkity clankity in the gym followed by playing dnd or whatever she's into, never even looking at the comments she gets.
Look, I agree that everyone intentionally trying to be famous, whether it be online or as like an actor or something, needs to be aware that this behavior is a reality they need to be prepared for. BUT that doesn’t mean we ignore the weirdos online and don’t sympathize with famous people. We should still discourage people from being rude or parasocial, and it’s normal to feel bad for humans going through shitty things, regardless of how much money they make related to that. Yes, she can stop posting, but that doesn’t excuse other people’s actions, and realistically some people would continue to be weird even if she did just vanish from the internet
Let me bask in the glow of atom, thank you very much.
