“I think it’s going to require a little bit less navel-gazing and a little less whining and being in fetal positions. And it’s going to require Democrats to just toughen up,” Obama said at the fundraiser

“There’s been, I gather, some argument between the left of the party and people who are promoting the quote-unquote abundance agenda. Listen, those things are not contradictory. You want to deliver for people and make their lives better? You got to figure out how to do it,” he said.

“I don’t care how much you love working people. They can’t afford a house because all the rules in your state make it prohibitive to build. And zoning prevents multifamily structures because of NIMBY,” he said, referring to “not in my backyard” views. “I don’t want to know your ideology, because you can’t build anything. It does not matter.”

Claims that leftists and abundance Dems need to work together, then immediately starts promoting the abundance agenda. What a transparent shill.

yeah! what Obama should have told people was that they should ban all muslims and start tariff wars, ya know, like any smart politician would say!

then commit felonies and start a insurrection. Why obama whyyyyyy cant you be perfect!? Why would you enact the ACA-a republican invented idea--then turn around and on us poors!? This is why after my 3rd ex wife left me for (reasons) I decided to burn down the garage move to spain! Damn you Brandy, you tranparent shill who just wanted me to not be a douche!

Right. So, my point was that, while calling for unity between leftists and centrists within the party, Obama is actively promoting the centrists' abundance platform, which makes that call for unity ring hollow. And your point is..."yeah, but orange man bad!"

Well, thank you for that contribution. It's given me a lot to think about.

[–] tiny_iota@endlesstalk.org -4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

"orange man bad" is the response from someone who is literally defending what trump is doing because they don't like--in this case--obama.

You don't like what obama is doing? show me in your comment history where you criticize trump with as much fervor? No seriously I don't have enough time but I do think are a smart enough person to have made comments about how terrible trump is now. I'm sure you have

The fuck are you talking about? No one here is defending Trump. The only reason we're even talking about him is because you brought him up in a cynical, transparent attempt to deflect criticism from Obama.

And no, I'm not going through my comment history to prove to you that I'm sufficiently anti-Trump, but you're welcome to do it yourself if you want. I'm sure it won't take you long to find example of me calling him or his administration fascist. See, when you grow up, you learn that not everything is a binary, and that criticism of Democrats isn't support for Republicans.

Comparing presidents is deflection now? I'm saying do you attack trump as much as you do obama? this isnt deflection its a literal question of your standards. You hold democrats to a higher standard than republicans who literally have caused an insurrection, and then blame democrats for being too centrist. You are so transparent its sad. The saddest part is people like you convince others that 'both shides are the shame' in a shameless appeal to sound smarter than your ave-ra-ga bear. Then when called out regurgitate the same sound bytes you pretend to be against (orange man bad)

its ok, I'll look through your history later, I doubt I'll see you shaming trump as much as you do obama though. we'll see. and if I am wrong I will apologize. (ain't lookin too good for you though right now, mr orange man bad)

[–] pjwestin@lemmy.world 5 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

There are two things you need to understand, so please take them to heart. The first is that you read two sentences of criticism about a Democrat and extrapolated an entire fictional person from them. All of the opinions you believe I have about Democrats, Republicans, "both sides," and my standards aren't mine, but a made up character's, who you are arguing with inside your own head.

The second thing is, while you are welcome to go through my comment history, I really don't need any apology from you. I sincerely could not give a fuck about what you think.

thats ok, anyone who utters the phrase "orange man bad" has no sway in my opinion of them other than negative things. It was a given before I even have to look at your history (which by the way im sure is full of self-assured 'i know better than anyone else' both sides are the same bs that I see everywhere on the net) I won't look through it if you dont me to, and if it makes any difference, I respect you as you sound like a smart person.

Obama did some good and bad things, what he didn't do was commit felonies and attempt to ban an entire religion. (half of my families) I just love to mock people who attempt to equate the two candidates as if they are on the same playing field. you can mock me for that if you wish. Its only the internet. But if it makes any difference.

Let me know when Obama walks through a teenage beauty pageants changing room and brags about it. And then we can argue about who is the worst pedophile it'll be hilarious

them 5 people down voting, can you show me where I am wrong? I love to learn.
