This would be a fantastic way to prank an older colleague in tech.

"My.. SSD.. is making spinning disc seeking-clicks?"

Personally I'm happy with LED activity to show me when the HDD is being flogged, don't miss the clicks - but this is a fun project that I'm glad someone did.
