I've seen a few raves held in old churches so definitely.

There's a night club ~Detroit that was a church, then abandoned, and then an illegal rave hotspot (late-90s) before it went legit before the cops could have it torn down — and they really leaned into the "desecration of hallowed ground" thing during the latter two versions. (Henry Rollins even complimented them to that end during one of his storytelling events there [~'99, IIRC?])

FWIW: in the US, churches & related buildings are NOT subject to building codes & similar safety regulations, so DO NOT BUY/RENT them without thoroughly inspecting the structure, documented history, and fine print!! 🤢🥲 "Insurance" will not save you or your money — as if it would anyway, in this era. 🤌🏼
