That is a paragraph break. You can do two spaces or a \ at the end of a line for a line break.

Like
this or

The \ doesnt show reliably on all apps. Only checked two, but both failed to display it correctly

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Odd. Did you put a line break (press ↩️) after the slash?

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Yup
And this is what I get

To get a line break, I have to do two spaces after the last
character to get this result

Interesting. I see your break with the slash on Voyager and Jerboa. What client do you use that doesn't show it?

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 months ago

Sync and eternity are the two I checked

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

And I just checked connect, where it does show both as line breaks.

It looks like that's a good bug to report to Sync and Eternity because the slash also works on browsers.

Well, now I learned the backslash method. Thanks!
