This has to be a troll right? No one votes for trump explicitly to piss off liberals and no other reason right? Right?

[–] Shortstack@reddthat.com 125 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

Consider that a third of the country didn't even vote and you'll be much more ready to accept there's folks on the fringe who care just enough to vote, for petty reasons

[–] londos@lemmy.world 89 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

I can't imagine someone who voted to piss off liberals also has the media diet to know they're about to lose Medicaid.

[–] SunshineJogger@feddit.org 30 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

I'm interested in a morbidly sad way as to how many people in America will just suddenly be confronted with a new life or death situation they had not seen coming nor could prepare for.

We humans are far too good at fucking our own societies up and I feel like we really are so unfortunate to witness the end stages of a... Several, depending on how we cut the term society in today's interconnected reality

[–] tburkhol@lemmy.world 18 points 11 hours ago

What I expect is that those people will either a) receive a form letter saying that their Medicaid has not been renewed, b) simply not receive new Medicaid card after applying and being silently rejected, or c) have a hospital administrator explain that they owe $10,000 because Medicaid will not cover their charges. Obviously, the hospital is greedy and mean.

Unless those communications include the explicit phrase "because of Donald Trump's Medicaid cuts," few people will draw any connection between the mysterious, bureaucratic determination of Medicaid coverage and their 'tells is like it is' hero, bankrupt casino owner, Donald J Trump.

It’s the sacrifice that a few rich evil bastards are forced to make, in order to maintain their death grip on power, and watch the line go up slightly more quickly.

[–] rayyy@lemmy.world 6 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

Some would throw you overboard to save their own lives, while most rich folks would throw you overboard to gain fifty cents. The wealthy MUST ALWAYS have, "a little more".

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 3 points 9 hours ago

And every time has to be a little bit more than the last time of a little bit more.

[–] taco@piefed.social 1 points 2 hours ago

Nobody's ever become a billionaire by believing there's a such thing as having enough.

[–] arin@lemmy.world 14 points 15 hours ago

They think they are a protected class. Just another person dependant on California's excessive taxes

[–] Atherel@lemmy.dbzer0.com 43 points 15 hours ago

This has to be a troll right?

Maybe

No one votes for trump explicitly to piss off liberals and no other reason right? Right?

Unfortunately those idiots look at politics like it's a sport and they just want their team to win and laugh at the losers.

Account deleted and nothing in the archive.

Not really. I imagine she got a torrent of well deserved schadenfreude lobbed her way and decided to quit.

[–] RaivoKulli@sopuli.xyz 3 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Could be, but it being deleted we won't know if it was real account or not. So reason enough for me to consider it sus

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 1 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Am i missing a joke? Who's account is deleted?

There are people that have never faced any serious consequence in their life. Life's great on autopilot. There's no critical thinking or sense of shared responsibility or empathy. The real world is a game you play to make fun of others misfortune.

…until it happens to you <shocked-pikachu-face.jpg>

Cue "I'm not a bad person, I didn't think at all, I still don't want to, but, someone please make it go away."

[–] Gigasser@lemmy.world 20 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

You would be surprised. Many people truly think "politics doesn't matter and my vote doesn't matter, thus if I'm gonna vote anyways, because why the hell not, seems fun to get involved and join the community of people also voting for trump and make these weak crybabies which annoy me whinge over my political choice, which isn't really that important because politics isn't that important in the grand scheme of things, then might as well vote for trump".

And then they complain as they get shunned by family and friends for voting trump, because they TRULY think that politics and political choices aren't important...somehow.

We now have an easy way to identify these people. Can we not ship them off to an inhospitable island with a harsh climate?

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 4 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, absolutely. We won't even have to move them. We'll just make the land they're on inhospitable.

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 1 points 9 hours ago

Sadly, I think they took care of that already. Except at an ecosystem level.

[–] Bytemeister@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago

Too hard. We'll all just drive oversized trucks until the entire planet is an inhospitable island with a harsh climate.

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

There are. Just the other day i saw a bumper sticker that said trump 2024 make libs cry again. And this is in California

[–] FreakinSteve@lemmy.world 10 points 15 hours ago

You do not at all understand who these fucking wackos are.

[–] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 7 points 16 hours ago

Probably, yes.

[–] rottingleaf@lemmy.world 5 points 16 hours ago

I think some people do, but not in such a situation and not posting it like this.

Most likely yes, it's a troll to confirm a certain point of view, and not that of Trump supporters.
