Democrats are hoping to draw out the bill’s passage while highlighting provisions expected to harm US families.

I knew that, but I thought the "Big Beautiful Bill" (what a stupid fucking name. Typing that out makes me hate myself a little) was a regular bill, not a budget reconciliation.

Reconciliation is a process, which applies to budget bills like this one. It's also the reason the Senate Parliamentarian got involved, some of the shit they tried to pull doesn't count as budget related
