The load shifted when they were making the pick - it was a 200 ton crawler, so sounds likes they were trying to save time and didn’t cut the debris into smaller pieces or account for the fact that they weren’t picking up something static.

That sounds right in line with the techbro mantra, "move fast and break things." The results are a little different when applied to physical systems, rather than software, though.
