We are still in this together, but "this" is going to be real different in the very near future. This demands a different kind of "we."

The French Resistance during Nazi occupation played important roles delivering downed Allied airmen back to safety, supplying military intelligence, and acts of sabotage.

The Underground Railroad is estimated to have brought 100,000 freedom seekers to safety between 1810 and 1850.

It's time.

It's hard to know where to organize the resistance, as corporate platforms seem to be increasingly susceptible to censorship. In response to this, #50501 / #fivefiftyone has set up their own forum at https://50501.chat/ - completely off reach from any influence by the #US government.

The forum, which is an instance of Lemmy and therefore on the Fediverse, has State-specific communities. Users of #Mastodon can participate in the discussion directly by tagging for example @New_York@50501.chat or @California@50501.chat.

Use it to organize and spread the words of protests in your State!

Users of Lemmy or similar platforms can find the State-specific communities at, for example, !Georgia@50501.chat.

Feel free to spread the word!

With apologies to the latter for posting this somewhat clickbait-y post in their community - I tried writing something that could hopefully gain some traction across different platforms. I hope that's alright! :)

In fact, do me a solid and repost this to !resist@fedia.io as a thread, because it's posted as a microblog, and I'm sure people are going to miss it. I only caught it because I have the /c/m set to "loud," so I got a notification.

I posted it as a microblog in an attempt (more or less successful) to make it feel somewhat native to potential Mastodon/other microblogging users who would stumble over it - while I'm sure those in the Threadiverse will find these communities soon enough, I wanted to make an effort to spread the word a bit further.

For Lemmy users, it's visible in the main feed. It's just those of us on Mbin who have to live with it being a bit hidden, ironically. 🥲
