Is this in reference to some specific piece of news I haven't seen yet?

Yes - two lawmakers and their spouses in Minnesota were victims of assassination attempts by a perp posing as law enforcement. One of the attempts was “successful”.

Its confirmed.

The suspect's name is out, him and his wife ran a private security firm, which is how he had a vehicle that looked identical or near identical to police cruiser.

He was also previously in some kind of MN state official political committee, its quite likely he had at least previously met, if not generally knew the people he targeted... Melissa Hortman was the Speaker of the Minnesota House at the time he was in that committee.

He fled on foot, and in his private security mobile, actual police found ... what is being described as an anti-abortion hitlist, including Ilhan Omar, and a whole bunch of other MN Democrats... but as of yet, the entire list/manifesto doesn't appear to have been publically released.

Not the first sadly 4 days ago we had someone pretending to be ice to steal from people. Last year we had teens doing it but that was the only case on the news.

This happened in Raleigh earlier this year

There's been literally dozens of cases.

Iirc, a place in Philly was robbed by a guy claiming to be an ICE agent, zip tied the clerk and took the cash out of the register.

Edit, oh yeah and the lawmakers in Minnesota that were killed in their homes by some guy claiming to be police

That one makes me laugh because that clerk was probably like “thank god it wasn’t an ICE agent”
