Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

How do blind people use cash in the US? Other countries have different sizes and textures and stuff, but not our cash.

Yeah once politics aren't killing everyone slowly and ruining life in general for the public then it'll be better

I get the desire but this is so over the moral boundaries its fucking crazy so your gonna just have to see it through

Maybe help make it so its not needed but bitching and moaning about that is just making it MORE necessary

So yeah. Fuck your post but heres to hoping you change your mind 👍

Trump is sending us to Hell in a hand basket.

Biden was sending us to Hell in a hand basket.

Obama was sending us to Hell in a hand basket.

Dubya was sending us to Hell in a hand basket.

Clinton was sending us to Hell in a hand basket.

Bush 1 was sending us to Hell in a hand basket.

Reagan was sending us to Hell in a hand basket.

Forgive me if I'm a little numb to it all.

Maybe a lesson here that your life is not in a way that it should be based on the reality outside and your ignorance is the product of that and not the solution

I know you want to live fat and happy so does the next generation and the slaves in Guatemala that'll likely die in some water wars or some other byproduct of this insanity.

Its just not in the cards for people right now. You can always change your moral definitions but there will always be a jealousy of those that are stronger then that.

I see your not entirely wrong, (tho some of them obviously weren't as responsible and/or more help then hurt outside of irresponsible but also nigh unavoidable (Considering the actual power structure in the US) military/industrial complex military "strategies". (👀 Looking mostly at Clinton/Obama there) But being better then some isn't enough and truly never will be. And it doesn't make the defeatist "Well its not MY job" idea less bullshit. You clearly want it to change. Your just to apathetic to contribute meaningfully for whatever "reason"

Unless your literally incapable of helping for some reason (say mentally ill or debilitated) or near 100% maxed out personally and so stability is now a NEED not a want, you could be doing more and giving up is understandable at best but best be quiet about it as as to not encourage other members of the species to do the same out of groupthink or some misguided group justifications like it

Pay attention, talk about it, be uncomfortable, make others do the same, otherwise someone else is taking your share 👍 and I think that's bullshit cause you seem smart enough to know better then that

  1. Bidet.
  2. Two dogs, taking turns. One poops, the other eats it. And then licks your face.

Whoa, that's mind-blowing. I always wondered what kind of jobs there would be for me if I suddenly lost my vision.

I just want to say that I'm sorry for the current status of the web; I've worked on making some apps accessible to blind people and I bet most of them are horrible to use for a person with visual impairments.

It can be hard. I have yet to see an elegant way to navigate threaded chains of comments. It's like "UltimateGamer386 [actual content]". On Reddit, at least Old Reddit, the upvote and downvote controles were the only buttons and were located immediately before the actual comment, so you could go from button to button, then press down arrow to read the comment.

I have enough vision to navigate to some degree, at least on a desktop. For laptop or phone it has to be a screen reader. I really should be reading braille more.

I was just thinking the other day that a dedicated semantic tag for user replies like or or would be nice, and they could be nested.

I wonder if semantic tags like , with controls embedded in or similar tags, could work anyway.
