Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., announced on Friday that she is resigning from her seat, following weeks of clashing with Donald Trump.

“If I am cast aside by MAGA Inc and replaced by Neocons, Big Pharma, Big Tech, Military Industrial War Complex, foreign leaders, and the elite donor class that can't even relate to real Americans, then many common Americans have been cast aside and replaced as well,” Greene said in a statement posted to social media.

When you suddenly realize how disposable you are to the cult if you dispute the word of their deity...

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 5 points 27 minutes ago

I’m sure it’s to go make more money being awful elsewhere.

The suddenness, her “excuse” about not being liked, and feuding with Trump?

I dunno. I smell one of two scenarios:

  1. She was in it for the grift and can’t go any further for the work it takes.
  2. Her life is being threatened.

Edit: if someone was in her position and TRULY cared about the American people, she would fight for them and against Trump’s team. That’s why I think choice 2 is what is really happening.

Por que no los dos

She could be running for president, or getting a job as a pundit somewhere.

If I am cast aside by MAGA Inc and replaced by Neocons, Big Pharma, Big Tech, Military Industrial War Complex, foreign leaders, and the elite donor class that can't even relate to real Americans,

Wait til she realizes MAGA was always a grift by elites to get votes and support and they never cared for the "Real Americans™."

This is because DEMOCRATS are so VIOLENT!

There's more to this story. There is some information we don't know about yet.

[–] spongebue@lemmy.world 7 points 26 minutes ago

Or she's going to try to run for Senate and wants to lie low for a bit to cool down emotions

[–] 2piradians@lemmy.world 11 points 1 hour ago (2 children)

Makes me wonder if the trump reich had saved up some dirt on her prior to the public spat. Get out or we're using this kind of thing.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Hits Out at Net Worth Claims: ‘Go to Hell’

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Georgia Republican, pushed back on Sunday against a report that said her personal wealth has skyrocketed since she entered Congress, calling the claims "outright slander and lies."

In an X post, the congresswoman owed her wealth to her family's construction business and private investment, and said her net worth today, valued at $22.51 million per public records, has nothing to do with her government role since 2021, which comes with a salary of $174,000.

She was responding to an article by financial news outlet Benzinga published on June 8, titled: "Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's Net Worth Jumped $21 Million Since Joining Congress—Top 6 Stocks She Was Buying Amid Tariff Chaos."

Maybe she's in the Epstein files, needs to be redacted.

Trump called her big donors and told them to cut her off. They told her she was out. She resigned rather than lose.

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 5 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

A bit of a performative flounce this. If resigning, resign. Instead she gets to play the martyr role just in time for the religious season.

[–] 0ndead@infosec.pub 2 points 56 minutes ago

Yeah, this smells

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 5 points 57 minutes ago

just when she was becoming a stone in Trump's shoes, now she'll be replaced with a loyalist

[–] nondescripthandle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

Cult breakups are like skateboard tricks, any one you can walk away from is a good one. I feel like this could have gone a lot worse for her.

[–] RustyShackleford@lemmy.zip 1 points 24 minutes ago

I feel like this is more a subset of the party is asking for her to back out so people will forget hating her as they plan on trying to pass her as Diet Trump, to republican voters as a backup plan in 2029.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

So...she's not a Republican or a Democrat anymore?

[–] baronvonj@lemmy.world 1 points 32 minutes ago

Is she ... a secret third thing?
