Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Some firms involved in the White House ballroom project appear to be trying to lower their online profiles.

Every single person involved in this should lose whatever operating licenses they have for tearing down the freaking Whitehouse without proper permits and approvals.

[–] tdawg@lemmy.world 47 points 4 days ago (1 children)

That would require accountability

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 35 points 4 days ago

That is accountability

[–] Zier@fedia.io 25 points 4 days ago

And they should be in jail for destruction of public property.

[–] MushuChupacabra@lemmy.world 83 points 5 days ago (1 children)

They could have avoided the shame, by refusing to destroy iconic national monuments.

Not with that $ they aren't

[–] thesohoriots@lemmy.world 37 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Like they’ll get paid if it wasn’t cash upfront.

[–] not_that_guy05@lemmy.world 24 points 5 days ago (1 children)

You see Trump ain't paying it, we are. So yeah it checks out.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 12 points 4 days ago

And they will be subsidiaries of Trump and his family or paying him kick backs.

Assuming they get paid

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Integrity. Ethics. Principles.

Much more important than money.

There are a lot of things I wouldn't do no matter how much money.

Money isn't that important unless you have none.

I'd rather live in poverty than do things that harm others. Like endorsing genocide.

Helping bad people get more money to do more harm.

I'm an atheist and I have more moral conviction than most "Christians."

Y'all a bunch of Judas

Money isn't that important unless you have none.

Lol tell that to the billionaires.

I'd rather live in poverty than do things that harm others. Like endorsing genocide.

Just by living in the US we already are part of genocide of others and destruction of other countries.

Judas?

Lol I ain't even religious so get your so called "atheist" ass out of here with that.

It's not that hard to see that your morals does not much every single person in the US and it shouldn't , but go on.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

So I say my morals and integrity can't be bought. And you insult me. Ok. But I don't know why .

When I say money doesn't matter I am referring to materialism.

I don't need to be rich and have power.

No body does.

Thank you.

Quick tip: going old-school by calling and faxing are more disruptive to their business than emailing. There are free, anonymous, online faxing services, you don’t need to have a machine.

[–] CoopaLoopa@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Uh oh, a fax number that appears to be an actual Maryland landline. Surely nobody is going to send endless faxes to their printer.

Hopefully that printer doesn't queue the faxes when it runs out of paper.

[–] OldQWERTYbastard@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

Get 'em, boys!

[–] hateisreality@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

Wait he's using Spanish labor whilst demonizing them ‽

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 4 days ago

Easy solution, they're paid for by our tax dollars, we find them and get our money back.

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I initially read that headline as "go unpaid". And I was not at all surprised.

I read it as “go into the presidential bunker” because the demo’ed section of the White House sat on top of the bunker entrance. I was like “well yeah, the ballroom thing is just a ploy to renovate the bunker before Trump needs to use it…”
