Tricky chicken/egg problem, compounded by people like me who do their own bike repair.

Bikes are one of the easiest things to fix. The only thing i can say that is hard to fix for the first time would be the crank. Almost everything else on a bike is a couple of screws or an allen wrench and some small zap straps.

I dont know how many times ive fixed peoples flat tires because they didnt know what to do.

Years ago, I took my bike in for repair during summer. I was told it would be 6 weeks before I could get my bike repaired. I bought the tools and did it myself. This was long before YouTube was a thing so I had to figure it out for myself. Still, half a day of trial and error is better than waiting 6 weeks.

I would def say that they have more skills than a postal carrier. They should form a union...that's where the big bucks are. /s
