Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Not safe for whom? Is there a split that would divide Kirk and the shooter?

[–] crt0o@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 6 days ago

Dead/living

Canada could annex the blue states and turn them into provinces...

The great lakes finally united

Nah. I personally am enjoying watching the Republican farmers suffer. It is cathartic to see them cry. It is a sliver of joy in my heart to watch them beg. Afterall, this is what they voted for.

For once, I agree with her. Please let us leave.

only downside is throwing all the minorities in red states under the bus.

if that happens, I hope they get to flee to safety

Agree, lets all stick the politicians and billionaires on an island in the pacific. Then America will be safe again.

I see this on signs outside sometimes. I always wonder where the fuck they think the line will be though... The people who believe this shit generally live in the middle of nowhere and all the cities are deep blue so there isn't a red state/blue state divide, it's basically the network city state thing the yarvinists want but even that makes no sense because there aren't really any red cities to form around

Anyone saying they agree with the idea shouldn’t be. It won’t turn out how you imagine if it actually comes to pass under this admin.

[–] peaceful_world_view@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Oh, then they could have a real war instead of a civil war, diabolical.

[–] some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago

Anyone else find it really jarring that MTG has some good takes here and there lately? First Gaza, now this? I mean, she's still clearly the same awful hag as always, but the cynic in me wonders if she's trying to rehab her image or something after all the heinous shenanigans.

[–] Ghyste@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago

Weaponized stupidly.

Oh fuck of course! I knew this shit was coming. This is exactly what happened in Russia.

Not a surprise bc the heritage foundation was behind that shit too

1989: A Republican in Moscow

1991: Russia House, Trading in Its Name

Paul Weyrich was the co founder of Heritage. One minute he was in Moscow teaching dissidents about holding elections and sneaking in computers and fax machines.

The next the Soviet Union had collapsed and the Heritage Foundation had helped create the first of its kind go between for U.S. and Russia business as Russia embraced "capitalism."

Literally fought the deadliest war in US history over this...

Which would matter if she cared about history. Or objective reality.

[–] gdog05@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Don't threaten Republicans with learning history. These kids would be so angry if they could read.

[–] handsoffmydata@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Does this mean Dixie goes its own way with a shiny new government? Hmm.

Does this mean they think they are going to lose it again and wants to ensure they get to keep half?

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago

Indeed, with the Nazi-US GeStaPo roaming and randomly arresting, the USA is no longer safe. The MAGA States of America can keep them, so that normal people can live in peace.

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 5 points 6 days ago

Pakistan and Palestine would like to weigh in

[–] nuko147@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Silly question. Would they get called NUSA (Not so United States of America)?

I am down with that, I'll stand with all the productive blue states, GOP Nazis can take the bible belt and Southern 'confederacy'.

I'll happily trade houses with someone in the West who wants to join their conservative bretheren.

I hate to say it, but I agree with mtg here. Cascasdia now!

[–] krunklom@lemmy.zip 4 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Mtg like when pond scum catches the sunlight at golden and hour and just kind of completes the scene.

It's weird that this woman has said, four things I agree with lately, but in the light of full day pond scum is still pond scum.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Split into the conservative leecher states and the progressive earner states? How will they finance their new conservative utopia? Hate only feeds you that long...

[–] nanoswarm9k@lemmus.org 6 points 6 days ago

slavery, then war, more enslaving, more war. repeat.

[–] FatCrab@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I actually don't disagree (which is twice now that MTG and I agree on conclusions, albeit for incredibly different and opposed reasons--i can't tell whether this is just early onset dementia, which runs in my family after all), but i can't help but doubt she understands how utterly economically devastating this would be for red states. Nevertheless, sure, northeastern autonomy--from the tippy tip of Maine down to DC and west to Philly.

Even better. Slice it into three parts. East, west and middle.

East and west can be one and middle can be on its own.

[–] 13igTyme@piefed.social 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I don't think the country can afford to pay for everyone one to move to a star of their color choice.
