Imagine getting Intel on yourself and it flags you as a serious threat and that's what gives you the confidence in yourself needed to act on it.

[–] porksnort@slrpnk.net 14 points 2 days ago

The real societal threat was the friends you made along they way!

If you were actually a high-risk threat, you'd be elated to be able to operate in relative stealth.

Regarding Earth:

“What? Harmless? Is that all it’s got to say? Harmless! One word!”

Ford shrugged. “Well, there are a hundred billion stars in the Galaxy, and only a limited amount of space in the book’s microprocessors,” he said, “and no one knew much about the Earth, of course.”

“Well, for God’s sake, I hope you managed to rectify that a bit.”

“Oh yes, well, I managed to transmit a new entry off to the editor. He had to trim it a bit, but it’s still an improvement.”

“And what does it say now?” asked Arthur.

“Mostly harmless,” admitted Ford with a slightly embarrassed cough.

Back in the day, if you wrote to the FBI and asked if there was file on you, they would start a file on you.

[–] Dalkor@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

Still do. It's a paradox of sorts. They are required to log actions. You making a request and them filling the request is an action. If you didn't have any previous actions, now you do, and so they start a file on you.

[–] kogasa@programming.dev 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Did they answer the question?

[–] Tugboater203@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I didn't ask

[–] Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.org 11 points 2 days ago

I'd feel relieved and slightly insulted

"Object Class: Keter"

[–] sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz 8 points 2 days ago
[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 8 points 2 days ago (3 children)

I’m assuming this is a joke but is it actually possible to see such files somehow?

[–] Charlxmagne@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Considering all these bookey-ass dystopian surveillance companies especially data brokers circle jerk and share data with each other, you could prolly buy your own data from brokers, providing u meet criteria, and ur OPSEC is absolute shite (if it isn't you might be lucky enough not to see much of anything identifying).

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

But how would you get access? Government worker I guess?

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago

Government, police, large enterprises (Airbus, Merck, Ferrari, JP Morgan chase Bank are all customers)
