In my experience they wouldn't fake it. I think that is just wishful thinking. With the queen and the pope it was the beginning of the end. But not the end.
Look all we need is a 24/7 live feed of him lit by blindingly bright lights that starts with him out in public where people can see it's really him.
We need the in person witnesses as well. They can implement a jury duty like system to randomly select people to bring in and watch to see if it's really him.
