Donald Trump told reporters on Aug. 8 that a potential peace deal between Moscow and Kyiv would likely include "some swapping of territories," as Trump prepares to hold a summit with Vladimir Putin next week.

Pedo-in-Chief being a grade-A dumbass again.

Ukraine should not have to give up anything. Kowtowing to bullies gets you nowhere.

This'll be the same fucking deal as last time... Russia gets Crimea and their controlled territories, plus the ones Ukraine reclaimed. The US gets access to Ukraine mining exploits. Also Zelensky must step down so Russia can install a puppet government like Belarus...

Oh, and Trump also gets to give himself a Nobel prize.

And restart the invasion in a few years, because clearly it's advantageous to murder innocent people.

What territories that the US owns are they planning to swap with Russia?

[–] avidamoeba@lemmy.ca 4 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

The ones with rare earths in Ukraine.

I'm kidding, of course. The US won't give any of theirs. 😄

then putin will start attacking east EU countries too... Also this will make russia stronger by giving them these minerals and land, and will make eu countries more frightened, like more eastern countries will think 'oh if they give up parts of other countries for peace, what if we get attacked?' and cats pushed in a corner make weird jumps, they'll start working more independently and or making deals with russia themselves and weaken the allyship of EU, is this all america can offer? Surrender? Pathetic losers

[–] Stovetop@lemmy.world 13 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

Not like the EU is doing anything to stop this from happening. Why is anyone even allowing America at the table right now?

No gargling

[–] Puddinghelmet@lemmy.world 6 points 16 hours ago

Cause we dont have our own army, we have smaller seperated armies, and we dont have our own weapons that are not (partly) made in America yet idk

I mostly see Russia restocking and attacking Ukraine again in 3-4 years if a peace deal was actually signed. I don't see them attacking a NATO country until after they finish taking Ukraine and the U.S. has done their best at dismantling NATO so Russia faces less opposition.

Can you imagine being such a weak leader that your 2 week special operation turns into a multi year war

Trump prepares to hold a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin next week.

Wait, this whole story is based on something Trump said? Will the sanewashing never end? Until he and Putin actually sit down to have that talk this is just manipulation. Along with a gallup saying Ukrainians are tired of war. Yeah no shit, Sherlock. I don't think they're tired enough to let Russia take what they've been fighting for for 3½ years.

JFC, the whole article is about Rump rambling off the top of his empty head. Even the "summit" with Putin is purely imaginary at this point.

I guess this is what US outlets do these days, but I'm a little sad that KyivIndependent would do it, too.

This is like giving your year old Mercedes Benz to a used car dealer who will trade it in for a 20 year old rusted old half ton truck .... and him trying to convince everyone that he made a great deal, the greatest deal in the history of deals.

And everyone in the trailer park cheering as they host a barbecue party to celebrate.

Trump lets Putin take Ukraine if he can have Kaliningrad and turn it in a pedo heaven?

[–] ms_lane@lemmy.world 4 points 12 hours ago

Swapping

So, Russia can have Crimea

Ukraine gets Muscovy, deal?

let's hope the deal is for Alaska to be swapped

[–] warbond@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

And why would we hope for that...?
