“With Hamas controlling nearly all media in Gaza, these photographers aren’t reporting, they’re producing propaganda,” the statement said.

“This investigation underscores how Pallywood has gone mainstream with staged images and ideological bias shaping international coverage, while the suffering of Israeli hostages and Hamas atrocities are pushed out of frame,” it continued.

“They are intended to overwrite the brutal images of the Hamas attack on Oct. 7, 2023. Many people don’t even remember these pictures,” Paul said. “Hamas is a master at staging images.”

Reported as spam. This site is definitely in the tank for Netanyahu, but they are not a spam site and don't report false stories.

"They also favor the right-leaning Netanyahu government “Netanyahu Indictments Are Shifting Few Israeli Voters.” In general the news is reported factually and with a right-leaning editorial bias."

The Algemeiner, a global news destination published online, serves as an independent media voice covering the Middle East, Israel and matters of Jewish interest around the world.

It was founded in 1972 by famed journalist Gershon Jacobson as Der Algemeiner Journal and was originally published in Yiddish. In 2012, Algemeiner.com was launched in English. The Algemeiner’s Publisher is Simon Jacobson, eldest son of our founder Gershon Jacobson.

Sure, that's a more balanced article, it doesn't deny that the Israelis are starving people in Gaza:

It's been widely established that there is severe starvation in Gaza, but the misreporting of a photo of a Palestinian child has caused criticism of the media's reporting of the crisis.

The article you cited implies it's all staged and refers back Israeli government sources (which should never be trusted).

There is no recognition that starvation is happening; specifically due to the Israelis.

Much better since it doesn't try to use one photo out of hundreds to try to downplay a major humanitarian crisis.

However, regardless of Mohammed's illness and the nature of the photo, it is true that people are starving in Gaza, as repeatedly reported by reputable media outlets and humanitarian aid groups.

The boy's mother, Hedaya al-Muta, has spoken to the media to confirm her son's medical history, but also of their lack of access to medicine and food. She added that Mohammed's weight has severely declined.

He was also starved not only sick. Starving sick kids is worse than starving heslthy kids

[–] chillhelm@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

Yeah. They found one Turkish photographer that used a photo of a sick child instead of a starving child. Kicking him of your cooperation lists is fair. Using this as an excuse to ignore the situation in Gaza is not.

One significant quote from the article that OP left out:

According to the German newspapers, part of the problem is that Israel restricts access to the Gaza Strip for independent journalists, allowing Hamas-controlled propaganda to dominate the coverage.

That's so interesting then that Israel isn't letting in the international press for reasons.

It blows my mind how there still people who try to change the narrative about the genocide. You lost the propaganda war get over it and go back to your echo chambers
