Overview:

The community dedicated to boycotting the US until they stop fascism, restore full democracy and start following international law.

Americans have a moral obligation to resist Donald Trump and project 2025 at every turn.

America is a flawed democracy currently being ruled by oligarchs. Stop the backslide! Dont let America become the next Hungary.

America needs to challenge the court rulings of citizens united v. fec and shelby county v. holder, protect the media, implement independent district drawing, and the single transferable vote so they don't end up having people stay home in life-changing elections because they cannot vote for their favourite candidate.

They’re really targeting California as a whole now. The state that supported the union so much over history. Republicans must really feel jealous that it is the richest state.

california needs to fucking secede and newsom needs to sack up and put the money where his mouth is.

You threaten to withhold federal taxes. Shit continues, You fucking do it. Once they know your threats are empty, the game is fucking over.

New California Republic (or NCR for short)

Secede? No, fuck that. Declare the current administration to be committing treason and lay seige upon the white house.

Not leaving fascists with nukes to endanger the world.

Senator Alex Padilla (D-Ca), interrupted and arrested while asking questions of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem related to ICE. She's the former South Dakota governor who spent $5 million of her state's COVID money on a tourism campaign. You might remember the dept of Homeland Security was created (along with the term "homeland") by George "Dubya" Bush after 9/11, as "not a whole new agency" but a reorganization of parts of existing agencies, to coordinate their work (to protect Freedom™). Their budget this year is $107 billion. Sound like a whole lotta coordinatin' goin' on.

Ooooooooo corruption :(

[–] ShittDickk@lemmy.world 153 points 1 week ago (14 children)

So an unelected figurehead of the federal government has come to my state, had a senator I voted for arrested over asking a question which is his civic duty to ask, and has now made threats at removal of my elected govenor as well as an elected mayor of one of the cities here.

At which point would these actions be considered tyrannical enough to provide a decent argument for a use of the 2nd amendment in court?

[–] whostosay@lemmy.world 43 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's a bridge that we're just going to have to cross once they completely take over. We need them to have as much power as possible before we make a move. Also for the love of God don't read, don't protest, don't act. Just wait.

[–] frog_brawler@lemmy.world 27 points 1 week ago

Your sarcasm isn't blatant enough unfortunately.

[–] endeavor@sopuli.xyz 21 points 1 week ago

2nd amendment held up in court the moment first legal citizen was detained by ice.

Apart from the obvious "arresting a senator for asking questions" thing, is whatever's happening on this picture standard procedure for arresting an unarmed, unthreatening person in the US? It looks like they're arresting a terrorist or a dangerous suspect

[–] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 118 points 1 week ago (2 children)

No normally. I think they throw a knee on the neck for 9 to 10 minutes.

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 31 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Got to do it for the officer's safety, asshole!

Have you thought about the blue lives?!

not 100% standard. but yeah, pretty standard. If its a rich white dude, generally the arrests are a lot gentler.

[–] Rin@lemm.ee 27 points 1 week ago (6 children)

Nah bro. Don't divide us like that just before the protests. We all get fucked up. Fuck the police.

Authorities are claiming they were unable to know who he was at the time, and treated him as a potential threat.

[–] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 45 points 1 week ago (3 children)

You are going to get to hear that kind of verbiage a lot over the next few years

He stood up and announced he was a US Senator. The very first thing he did was identify himself. If they're deaf then they shouldn't be on active duty outside a desk job.

So when they turn to the camera guy at the end they repeatedly keep saying you're not allowed to record due to FBI rights. That is something I've never heard before.

Unless they are trying to refer to something from the Patriot act the FBI has the same rights as everyone else.

[–] CompostMaterial@lemmy.world 107 points 1 week ago

That is because it is made up bullshit that all ~~Nazis~~ law enforcement say to justify suppressing media.

[–] baggins@lemmy.ca 86 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (4 children)

Who did they handcuff?

E. Alex Padilla

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 111 points 1 week ago (2 children)

A US Senator. For wanting to ask a question.
Not joking.

She said this just before:

“We are staying here to liberate this city from the socialist and the burdensome leadership that this governor and that this mayor have placed on this country and what they have tried to insert into this city.”

So it was probably related to that.

Senator Alex Padilla D-CA

[–] tdawg@lemmy.world 27 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This is having that effect where it spreads awareness by trying to suppress it. Had no idea who that was, but now I do. And now I know to support them

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 20 points 1 week ago

He was chosen by Newsom to replace Kamala Harris as Senator when she became VP, then won the following election.

[–] Grizzlyboy@lemmy.zip 79 points 1 week ago (4 children)

The dumb woman talking said “liberate the city from socialists”. Doesn’t it bother Americans that a person in her position, is so fucking dumb she doesn’t even know what socialism is?

It reminds me of Putin saying they’ll save Ukraine from nazis.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 36 points 1 week ago

It reminds me of Putin saying they’ll save Ukraine from nazis.

that's because it's written in the same ink.

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.dbzer0.com 19 points 1 week ago

I learned on he xbear that Ukraine is the most fascist place in the world and the leader of the country, who is Jewish, glorifies Nazis. It was very educational, but not in the way they intended.

[–] slaneesh_is_right@lemmy.org 18 points 1 week ago

Why would they be bothered? They don't know either. She might as well said "liverate the city from wokeness" qnd they would shake their fat fistis in agreement

Maybe now that they're getting arrested too, the Dems will actually do something.

Maybe.

[–] A_cook_not_a_chef@lemmy.world 42 points 1 week ago

Narrator: "They did not."

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago

Chuck Schumer will still not see this as bad since AIPAC didn't tell him it is.

It has always been this way. If you were a Hunter S. Thompson reader. You knew this way back. If you read about the real American history. You would know that the military was and has been used against Americans by terrible leaders. Just look at the Veteran Camps during the great depression. Requesting their war payments. Patton was sent in to clear them out. America has always been like this. It's never been a good place for most people. Where I grew up. The sheriffs office committed a mass murder against striking coal miners in the 1800's. This country is not a good place. Never has been.

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 17 points 6 days ago (7 children)

No it hasn't "always been this way". Abuses like this are unusual and indicate the sorry state of the current regime. Dismissing it as normal is sloppy and irresponsible.

"liberate this city from the social & burdensome leadership" sure sounds like an attempt to take over a city by a federal employee.

Moff Noem anyone

At least these cops don't have masks.
