It's been a month since cartoonist Jules Feiffer died. His best work was in the 1960s when he opposed the Democrats he had previously supported for their prosecution of the Vietnam War, and also did great anti-racist cartoons as well. 
The timing for me to mark his passing also works because, consciously or not, today's cartoon echoes this punchline of the 1970s Feiffer cartoon that I have posted.

Interesting that even in the chain of events depicted in the comments it's started and ended by Republicans and the poster assigns all the blame to Democrats.

That and it was Nixon who pushed hard and blamed hippies for it. Old enough to have direct experience.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it was Truman. Since he sent us there to help the French without a congress approved declaration of war.
