The US agreed to actually discuss the situation and potentially come to an agreement. Because of that upcoming discussion we'll delay ~~adding an additional 25% (though~~ the original 25% ~~will remain in place~~ for now). Should that discussion not go well, we'll just continue with the plan to impose more tariffs.

Sounds reasonable to me. None of us want this trade war. If you're willing to negotiate an end, we'll hear you out. That doesn't mean we're going to back down.

You can't trust Trump with any deal. I'm willing to bet they'll back down from their deal and Ford will have to bring the threat back and negotiate again, etc.

Probably; but it's a show of good faith that we are actually willing to come to an agreement, and it's also more opportunity for the US to hang itself on the public stage.

We'll give you the rope; we'd rather you made a bow with it, but if you want to make a noose that's your choice.

Yup, I was not impressed at all reading the headline on CBC, but this seems to be an olive branch considering the invitation to discuss on Thursday. So reasonable moves here
