I'd still avoid American brands. Currently using a Pixel but if I had to buy again, I'd be looking at a Fairphone or Samsung. I'd probably stretch this Pixel for a while. Technically it's got 5 more years of software support.
I came across this phone the other day, another alternative but I haven't looked too much into it.

Yeah, I'm considering GrapheneOS.
I had no idea Jolla were still developing. This device seems brand new. Interesting.
Graphene is ridiculously easy to flash. Back up your data & plug in your phone then click install. Highly recommended. Been using it for years and I get very frequent security updates.
