How is tgat even possible?

  • SSID is new and different
  • typed same password exactly on all devices (confirmed by watching each letter revealed at end which only disappears after a second or the next character is typed

Most devices require manual setup after upgrading the access point. The phone has a password manager and probably auto filled since the network name was the same. Smart home devices, and computers may not have a password manager that allows auto fill for Wi-Fi passwords.

I think that OP is saying that he believes that he's typing the correct password in on other devices as well and not having luck, though I'm not entirely sure.

Oh I thought they were saying they reused their old password and ssid for the newly installed fiber gateway/WAP. Then expected everything to automatically reconnect to the new network with the old name

Oh, that's a good thought.
