The thought that Canada has any real say in what's going on over on the other side of the world seems misguided, when we don't even have control of the skies over BC's Capital, or Vancouver, and instead rely on US Jets when there's an issue.
Most people I know oppose what's going on. However, and despite all the "Elbows up" rhetoric of late, Canada is the US's bitch. Our politicians have shown it time and again since the last election even. There's zero chance we oppose the US position in any meaningful way on this one. No matter how many MPs we contact, they're gonna stay as the US's bitch, and do the US's bidding.
And while I don't doubt there are some agreements / trades between Canada and Israel, the scale of it is likely pretty limited. We had like 1.8 billion go between israel/canada in 2024, compared to like over 400billion with the US. Like it's pretty clear why the govt is currently mostly focused on the US trade situation. That paltry amount of trade with Israel, is also why Canada making a big moral declaration on this front is kinda pageantry -- it's not like Israel's jeopardizing a major trade partner relation by ignoring us. We're effectively just sending thoughts and prayers.
Canada should do it obligation to stop genocide like international law say since canada signed both geneva and genocide conventions end of the story.
We are doing everything we can stop help ukranians knowing that our contribution eon't stop russia so why can't we do the same against israel
Canada should also have shutting there effin mouth instead of saying israel has the right to defend itself by support israel attack on nuclear facilities a big war crime
