I'm pretty sure that Kamala was the establishment's first choice in 2020 then, after voters rejected her, they switched to Biden and stuck her in the VP slot.
I guess that all depends on who else runs. If it's just a bunch of standard establishment Democratic neolibs, then sure, let's go with the one who knows how to talk. Of course, if that's what the entire field looks like, then we'll be back to getting wiped off the map again in 2032.
It could be a liability thing though. An organization that sells expired product might be in for bigger judgements if something does happen.
That's a money saver vs. "donated" or "sold at discount".
Food banks that I'm familiar with won't distribute expired food because it's a liability. Of course there is a big difference between "expired" salt and meat, but it's safer for them to have a blanket policy than count on the workers' judgement.
But at least it doesn't have any chemicals. /s
Democrats made a decision in the 70s to abandon "blue collar" workers and instead focus on appealing to urban professionals. They have pretty much stuck with that strategy, except in tech where they cozied up with tech capitalists and worked to drive down tech worker salaries.
