Patty Murray of Washington state said ICE agents lied to Wilmer Toledo-Martinez to lure him outside before dog attacked him

A US senator has condemned the Trump administration after she alleged that an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) “attack dog” mauled one of her constituents.

Democratic senator Patty Murray of Washington state said Wilmer Toledo-Martinez suffered “horrific” injuries while ICE agents detained him in November.

“An ICE agent lured Wilmer out of his home under false pretenses, posing as a construction worker who claimed to have hit Wilmer’s car and needed him to step outside to verify,” Murray said in a statement. “Another agent, accompanied by a dog, was hiding nearby and released the dog on Wilmer shortly after he stepped outside.”

Here's a photo of his injuries from the ICE attack dog:

Why did they have an attack dog ready for someone inside a house? What if a different person came out?

That's just unfortunate collateral damage, what are the cops supposed to do if they can't maim anyone in their way? /s

In the US, cops can detonate a flashbang in a sleeping baby's crib and it's just an "oops, sorry".

I can’t tell if this is a hypothetical or a story I missed.

Edit: to be clear it is the baby flashbang I’m referring to.

Trigger warning. I was actually thinking of this other time when the flashbang went off on the child, burning through his chest.

Yeah, it's hard to keep track of them all.

...and if you riot about this shit, somehow you become "the enemy within" and get taken down by militarized police or the National Guard.

[–] GojuRyu@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

The fact that there were confusion of which instance of flashbanging an infant says it all. That this didn’t lead to a many year long sentence or any consequences at all really is just sickening.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago

Unless anything actually gets done, in the way of severe consequences, they're just gonna continue. It's not rocket science.

I don't get one thing. They are fucking masked, don't legitimate themselves and act like kidnappers. Why the fuck doesn't the mob fight back? Why aren't there stories of ICE being beaten, scared off or unmasked? Not even one story about them getting shot after another attack?

Why the hell the only thing that puts any resistance whatsoever in USA is POLICE?

Because fighting back is how you get shot and people generally don't want to get shot. There's a not just a mob waiting on standby to retaliate.

[–] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Because they carry assault rifles.

[–] skulblaka@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

Well this particular guy was entrapped and arrested on false pretenses. He didn't know ICE was at the door.

Otherwise, though, yeah agreed. If masked assailants come to my home with no badge and no warrant they are going to be considered home invaders and will be treated accordingly. Identify yourself or you will be shot.

People have been doing shit like that. It just isn't reported on as often.

Every single incident needs to be documented, recorded, reported, stored safely.

[–] Hanielwealth@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago
