Well he just following the DNC playbook. Always move right. Since we have Trump that gone more extreme since 2016, Newsome moving over to take up the Trump of then. Just wait until the Democrats move and start acting like the Trump of today. Wonder if we going get the vote blue no matter what crowd still telling us that.
I deeply fucking hope the DNC doesn’t tap him like they tapped Hillary and Biden. Newsom is a corporatist neoliberal who’s simply opportunistically bandwagoning on public hostility towards orangeboi.
Unfortunately, those are all positives to the DNC.
For the DNC ticket it's going to be Newsom, Harris and like, one candidate we actually like who won't make it past primaries because the system isn't designed for radical change.
What sucks about this is I've seen it play out so many times before that I already know that when the populist/socialist doesn't make it past the primaries, progressives everywhere will balk and choke and say "Well there's no WAY i'm voting for any of the people still on the ticket. The DNC is corrupt, my vote doesn't matter."
And then the bar slides further right.
Every time they break our hearts, and we respond like they predict, they get to slide the bar closer to fascism and authoritarianism. Which is what capital wants. Both republicans and democrats are servants of capital and we don't defeat capital with some idealistic notions of revolution or uprising. Shake that fantasy out of your head. We have to start pushing the needle back to the left, and sure that means making shitty choices at the presidental elections, but it also means shaking off your introversion and asocial habits and going out and helping your local community and town/state elections so that we can cut the foundations out from under this mess. We can still turn it around but you're really not going to be happy with the timespans involved in doing so.
You're not going to see the Star Trek post-scarcity future. I'm sorry. Now start doing the fucking work to make it so your grandkids or grandroids will see that future.
It's not just this specific issue:

Newsome is a neoliberal, and he'll always put profits over people.
Never forget as soon as trump took office again, Newsom had Charlie Kirk and Alex Jones on his podcast sucking up to them and saying Dems need to be more like MAGA.
He didn't pivot back to anti-maga until maga refused to let him join.
Newsom isn't fit to be president, but he's not fit to hold any other political office either. We can't afford to waste time with these shit birds

As much as people like to bring up the Charlie Kirk interview as a reason to vote against Newsom, I actually appreciated that interview (along with the other controversial right wing interviews). It gives me an insight into the kind of people responsible for nearly 50% of the population’s beliefs without having to listen to a circle jerk. Newsom does push back against most of these people, but it is not meant to be a debate, but a conversation.
If I had the option of listening to Newsom interview Kirk, Joe Rogan interview Kirk, or having no knowledge of Kirk whatsoever, I would choose Newsom.
I know it’s an unpopular opinion on here, and I know Newsom is a cringy person, and I know his one trans athletes comment is not popular on this site (even though he shares the same opinion as most Americans by far), but I am grateful that these interviews exist.
And before I get all the hate that I know is coming, I’m not a neoliberal, I’m not maga, I’m very progressive, I’m not an LLM… what am I missing?
