Wolff discussed something that I had never heard before: that Steve Bannon, basically right up to the time Epstein died, was working with him on a combo rebrand/crisis comms effort to rehabilitate Epstein’s reputation. Yes! Bannon was working as Epstein’s image rehab specialist. The man at the center of all the anti-“elite”, anti-“globalist” pedophiles was tight with Epstein and trying to help him come in from the sex offender cold. He’d actually done hours of video interviews with Epstein as prep for either a 60 Minutes or 60 Minutes-style interview to revive his reputation.

Stuff like this is a reminder that what I’m describing here is mostly a media story. It’s no huge surprise that Bannon is an utter sleazebag or someone with a high tolerance for sexual predators. I confess to being perversely wowed by the brazen shamelessness of the switcheroo. But that’s another story. What’s kind of mystifying is how little Bannon or his Epstein image rehab doc project has gotten in the furor over the Epstein emails. It’s not that it’s gone unnoticed. The presence of Bannon-Epstein emails got at least a mention in many reports. But not the sheer volume or really the substance. Indeed, the press reports I was able to find about the image rehab doc tend to be in the entertainment press, like this one in The Hollywood Reporter. There’s much less in the political press.

Bannon is a typical fascist with an outsized ego. He thinks he invented a new idea when he championed "economic nationalism", where every country would focus on producing their own goods for domestic consumption. And I'm like "isn't that autarky?" He just rebranded an old idea as if it's new and claimed it as his own. Fascists think they're genius when they aren't.

And that is just mercantilism disguised

Surprising to who, exactly?

[–] HazardousBanjo@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

To virtually everyone.

Not because it wasn't known, it was well known for people who ever researched this case or gets their news outside the big 3.

The media has been complacent to the pedophiles (most especially as they relate to Israel) since people first heard of Epstein and his crimes.

Its surprising to normies because the media has been part of the cover up this whole time

Freaking finally! When the emails dropped I skimmed through a bunch of them myself and the big thing I took away was “Holy Hell why are there so many with Steve Bannon and nobody is talking about this?” Maybe it got some mentions here and there that he was in there but it seemed like a HUGE volume to me like they were bff. Glad to see someone reporting on this.

It's kind of like the way very few people (except The Young Turks because they are always talking Israel-Israel-Israel) seem to be commenting about his ties to Israel.

There are significant patterns with Israel's government protecting those who abuse minors, and more widely in the US within the orthodox Jewish community - not unlike the Catholic Church abuse systemic protection. It's all rarely reported on, however this article & video discusses how the institutions are so disinterested in helping that citizen-run foundations are resorting to travelling to Israel and performing citizens-arrests to get any kind of justice for the victims - and this is only successful if the accused have offended in Israel as well as abroad.

@silence7

There are so many basic language mistakes in the article that I have to presume this is written by a non-English-speaker. :angry_cirno:
