J.D. Vance’s lead in the polls could be collapsing because of his association with Trump, according to an expert

J.D. Vance’s chances of becoming the GOP nominee for president in 2028 have taken a dive, according to a new poll.

The survey looking at potential successors to Donald Trump has seen the vice-president’s lead in a list of theoretical candidates narrow significantly in recent months.

And in the most recent poll in November, the Vance’s margin continued to fall. According to the survey of 439 voters conducted between November 17 and 24, Vance’s lead over Trump Jr had plummeted to just 10 points. The latest results put Vance at 34% and Trump Jr at 24%.

Trump's polling figures have collapsed in recent months, with every major poll giving Trump a negative rating for the first time ever.

Even a Fox News poll suggested that 61% of respondents think that Trump's administration has damaged the economy, with just 3% approving of his economic strategy.

If he wants to ever be president, he needs to either invoke the 25th amendment or get on board with impeachment.

I dreamed that trump was impeached again and this time the Senate voted 50-50. Couch fucker was the tie-breaking vote, and he voted to convict, effectively electing himself president.

It's disheartening that this wasn't a good dream, but it was still too good to realistically hope for.

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 26 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

The House needs over 50% to impeach. The Senate needs 2/3 or 67 vote to convict so there wouldn't be a situation where a tiebreaker comes into play.

It is nice to dream though...

[–] billwashere@lemmy.world 11 points 16 hours ago

Yeah I’m sure the 67 vote restriction was for this very reason, so the VP couldn’t just elect himself.

[–] MrVilliam@sh.itjust.works 10 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Lmao I can't believe I forgot that. Glaring plothole in my dream.

[–] dylanmorgan@slrpnk.net 7 points 13 hours ago

A dream with poor fact checking? I guess otters can’t talk, and don’t all want to be my friend.

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 9 points 16 hours ago

Impeachment will never happen. The guy in question is a convicted felon. What is impeachment going to do that it failed to do the other times he's been impeached?

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 4 points 13 hours ago

JD Vance will be 10 times worse as president. We need him removed as well.

[–] EtAl@lemmy.dbzer0.com 40 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago) (1 children)

Don Jr. is in second place!? That would be awesome if he got the nomination. He's such a coked up clown, the American public would never vote for... such a... you know what, never mind.

[–] Phegan@lemmy.world 5 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

We said that about trump in 2016, don't wish for something, you might actually get it.

[–] Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 6 hours ago

that was the joke

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

What if we insist that a circus clown on crack can't be president. Like we've already got some coked up clowns, and so long as we find one that only speaks Canadian French and only cares about Quebecois politics it should probably be fine. And I'm sure someone from cirque was born here.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 29 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Vance’s lead over Trump Jr had plummeted

What! Seriously?
Those are what GOP is currently considering the best 2 options?

USA is a joke, and unfortunately a very bad one.

[–] TheOneCurly@feddit.online 15 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

The last name trump on the ticket will trick a significant number of people into thinking they got their 3rd term wish.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 5 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

I bet even Hillary could win over one of those two, not that I'm challenging her to try, I hope next if there even is an election, the Democrats will run with someone inspiring and progressive.
But who am I kidding, from the looks of it, the chances of that are near non existent.

[–] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 27 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Dude is awkward. Like, so fucking awkward that I’d feel bad for him if he wasn’t also a piece of shit. Really thought he was thinking of ditching his wife for Erica Kirk but that would be awful AND stupid.

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 6 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

He will dump his wife and Marry the blond white girl. Maga wont accept his current wife as first lady.

[–] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 7 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I strongly disagree. They love having someone around that they can point to and say, "see, we’re not racist."

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago

It'd be so much more believable if she didn't get bombarded with racism by their side

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 14 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

We still think there's gonna be an election?

[–] BanMe@lemmy.world 11 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

My hopes were very low a few months ago, but right now, the tides are turning and I think his time may have come. If the entire party isn't with him in lockstep, his efforts to remain as king will not succeed.

[–] _wizard@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago

Dictator. FTFW.

[–] untorquer@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

Of course there will be a completely free and fair, totally not rigged election, and not a hint of voter suppression. It is America after all. I suspect with the job he's doing there will be about 93% trump voters, give or take a few points, across the board.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 13 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

I cannot imagine that being seen as the weird puppet of the even weirder puppetmaster Thiel is doing him any favors, either.

I mean, Thiel and his weird associations - the freaks writing The Sovereign Individual, Curtis Yarvin, and Elon himself....blech. I think about the only people getting excited about any of those freaks and their ideas for how WE should live OUR fucking lives would be either the most idiotic of incel morons and centimillionaires and billionaires.

The Democratic Party needs to bring back calling these people weird again. I mean, all the time, too. Orchestrated. Like they started to do for like a minute before someone clearly had them dial it back.

Because these people are fucking weird. Sure, the right tries to constantly cast anyone to the left of Rush Limbaugh as some blue-haired trans person with face piercings and by that coding, way outside the mainstream. But anyone that is a billionaire is by definition someone that is wildly out of step with the everyday person. People like Mikey Johnson that have some weird porn pact with their son are deeply weird. People that follow the likes of Curtis Yarvin telling the elites that we need to get over things like democracy are extremely weird freaks, and people should point and laugh at this kind of thing.

But definitely point it out all the time...don't pretend any of this shit is the least bit respectable.

south park is the only entity attacking the right people with the right kind of satire. bless those gents, we don't deserve them.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 4 points 8 hours ago

Calling them weird? No they need to be tried for sedition and racketeering and be fined the sum of their wealth to fix the damage they’ve done to our country.

[–] heyWhatsay@slrpnk.net 11 points 9 hours ago

Trump is a cold, gold painted toilet, JD is one of the turds floating in it.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 10 points 16 hours ago

How well is JD Kirk polling?

[–] MiddleAgesModem@lemmy.world 6 points 6 hours ago

Not surprising, nobody likes this prick

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 4 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

It'll be JD Kirk once him and Erika get married and pump out 5 kids.

[–] dylanmorgan@slrpnk.net 7 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (1 children)

She’s already 8 weeks pregnant and Charlie was shot 10 weeks ago. 🤔

Edit: fact checked myself and I was taken in by a rumor. There’s no confirmation, although I also can’t find a denial from Erika Kirk or her reps.

Ok, so I've come to learn that it could be a real person or A1.

[–] NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago

It’s only because he’s a spineless tool and nobody likes him. God damn the libs for causing this.

No shit, pudding-man. You were never even supposed to be VP. You were there to take the blame when he didn't win.

[–] Eheran@lemmy.world 1 points 14 hours ago

439 voters! Wow! Let's jump to conclusions!

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

I bet the orange cancer PEDOnald is soiling his pre-soiled pants at the mere thought of Vance trying to be next Preznit.

[–] RufusFirefly@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I'm not sure if there's anybody in the Republican Party that is a viable candidate, much less JD Vance. The Republican's message may be populist but their motivations are pure greed and authoritarianism and a lot of red state voters are finally waking up to that fact.

[–] skeezix@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

finally waking up

yup, we've been hoping that for 10 years.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 1 points 4 hours ago
