I miss it... I never knew how much I'd appreciate seeing who down voted me. Occasionally I'd think, 'hmmm this guy with opinions I respect didn't like that? Why?' more often I'd think 'hahaha nazi'
Mbin is its continuation.
Just lemm.ee
Zero, because when I decide to join a fediverse network, first thing I do I set up a single user instance:
- https://git.jeena.net/ (they are working on activity pub)
- https://jeena.net/ (indieweb)
Same. Although sometimes I set up a public instance, because I'm setting one up for myself anyway, right? And then I have regrets LOL
thankfully, none
Two. kbin.social and kbin.run (which was actually an Mbin by the time it vanished).
kbin.social
I remember hearing about it. How big was it, in comparison to the others?
For a brief moment it was one of 10 largest Fediverse instances by MAU. I dont't remember now, if it was not larger than even lemmy.world
Wow, that's huge. When Vlemmy went under, it was the 16th largest, so about the size of Feddit.nl or Pawb.social today.
Huger than you think: this top 10 included Mastodon instances.
I liked it, but now there's mbin. I remember it being pretty big though.
feddit.de
An instance can defederate a user? Is that what you're saying?
How would I find out?
No, I'm talking about instances that just disappeared without a trace. Maybe I'm just unlucky. (or maybe I'm bad luck for instance owners)
Well, that explains why your first link is dead. Thanks for the explanation! I haven't been around this long; db0 is my first instance. I'm not that crazy, I just looked at them and said "damn that's wild, you know what you crazy SOB, I'm in." Like the meme... Futurama? Rick and Morty? Not sure.
I was on lemmy.film.
Two: lemm.ee and a PixelFed instance whose name I am blanking on rn.
It's OK, I learned how to migrate and moved to PieFed, so win-win. 👍
Lemmy.one and kbin. 😟
I heard about Lemmy.one, but I didn't know Kbin was gone.
None, i selfhost :)
RIP in pepperoni, Yiffit.net
geddit.social was technically my first Lemmy instance (although I used /kbin earlier and more than this). Owned by Stux (mstdn.social, pixey.org, gram.social,...) but it was late for lemmy.world-like growth.
trivia: Stux tried also to make a /kbin instance, (along with other prominent Mastodon instance owners. Only Fedia.io, from infosec.exchange survived. Kudos for Jerry). He has called it forum.fail
Just lemmy.org.uk for me.
RIP dubvee.org, it was a beautiful dream.
Iusearch.fyi , too bad, the name was cool
