Trump administration must fund SNAP payments during the shutdown, judges rule

Two federal judges ruled nearly simultaneously on Friday that President Donald Trump’s administration must continue to fund SNAP, the nation’s biggest food aid program, using contingency funds during the government shutdown.

It wasn’t immediately clear how quickly the debit cards that beneficiaries use to buy groceries could be reloaded after the ruling. That process often takes one to two weeks.

tbh did have starving the American population on my bingo card this year. and the worst thing is the people who celebrate it because of some people not spending the money wisely (i agree that maybe buying junk food is a priority when on food stamps) but that according to them is the whole entire country, and lets be honest, its mostly black people they are targeting the most with their "grievances". That's the funny thing about these racist fucks, they think someone like me was born yesterday and can't see through their veiled racism.

How? This is a terrible court ruling. The president does not control the funds. That's a constitutionally enumerated power of congress and congress alone. If they have not approved funds there's no money to pay it.

While I want people to have access for food I want to know what basis this court is using to strip congress of it's congressional powers and to bestow that to the executive branch.

Gotta love the downvotes and lack of discussion. The next comment provided info not by the news article that cleared it all up. I even agreeded. Guess discourse is dead
