Imagine Trump voters reading this EXACT headline during Biden's presidency. They would have lost their minds. They wouldn't take a vaccine because they thought there was a 5g chip in it, but this is ok?

[–] superglue@lemmy.dbzer0.com 89 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I was raised by republicans so I can provide some insight. Its because they would have to admit they were wrong about Trump. You can either admit you were wrong and declare him a tyrant or you can back him on everything. You can guess which most of them choose.

"One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back."

It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled

Mark Twain perhaps

Which that also blows my mind. Where did they get it in them that it’s so hard to admit your wrong?

[–] Soggy@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It starts from an extremely young age when they're taught that questioning what their parents and pastor say is an unforgivable moral failure.

[–] Jumbie@lemmy.zip 11 points 1 day ago

Ah. Religion.

It’s OK because it’s racist. They love that shit.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 32 points 1 day ago

These are the same asshats that are just fine with Taco invading blue cities and threatening more. Including the use of Marines, FFS. And he's threatening a lot more. They are still with him.

But they had a collective freakout over Jade Helm.

[–] Flickerby@lemmy.zip 11 points 1 day ago

It's a cult. You don't disagree with dear leader. That's the whole point of indoctrination. THEIR restrictive laws are evil and non constitutional. OUR restrive laws are for the good of everyone and backed by God.

[–] W3dd1e@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 day ago

They don’t read. Literally every headline r/Conservative goes like this:

“Illegal Immigrant took all the jobs then raped and murdered 100 babies. Libtards protested his deportation by throwing rocks at cops”

The literally only see propaganda to make them scared of immigrants and liberals. They don’t actually see any news about things the administration actually does/says.

They won’t even know they have a double standard.

Guess that will be tested when a lawyer is told to scan their face.

[–] bear@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 1 day ago

Or maybe when they start denaturalizing and deporting judges that push back.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 day ago

If he wants to get back in the country he'll do it.

4th Amendment, fare thee well... Nice to have known you.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 42 points 1 day ago (1 children)

4th Amendment doesn't even specify "citizens", it's "the people".

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

I'm sure they have a warrant to sieze your image, right? Um... right? 😉

[–] hansolo@lemmy.today 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The most amazing, revolutionary thing about the Constitution was that its rights applied to everyone within its jurisdiction, not just citizens.

Everyone knows this random DHS document supercedes the constitution. All the best people are saying it

[–] takeda@lemmy.dbzer0.com 49 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

This is scary:

On Wednesday, ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee Bennie G. Thompson told 404 Media in a statement that ICE will prioritize the results of the app over birth certificates. “ICE officials have told us that an apparent biometric match by Mobile Fortify is a ‘definitive’ determination of a person’s status and that an ICE officer may ignore evidence of American citizenship—including a birth certificate—if the app says the person is an alien,” he said. “ICE using a mobile biometrics app in ways its developers at CBP never intended or tested is a frightening, repugnant, and unconstitutional attack on Americans’ rights and freedoms

[–] PrettyFlyForAFatGuy@feddit.uk 6 points 16 hours ago

They got impossible quotas to fill

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 47 points 1 day ago (1 children)

UNCONSTITUTIONAL: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

[–] SoloCritical@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Yeah I’m really glad DHS doesn’t get to arbitrarily override the constitution

[–] FlyingCircus@lemmy.world 8 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

That’s ok, they’ll just get their pals at the Supreme Court to make a ruling in their favor.

Y’all acting like the rule of law still applies. Smdh

Oh so this document is the one with the real laws. All the other documents that say they can't do the things they are doing are invalid but we better respect this one! Or else

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

Someone should tell the sovereign citizens that they finally found the real laws

[–] tornavish@lemmy.cafe 37 points 1 day ago (3 children)

You can probably refuse not to make a Funny face

[–] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 13 points 1 day ago

They're fine with that, makes it more likely the app won't recognize you. And if the app doesn't recognize you then straight into the unmarked van never to be seen again.

Just wear a mask like they do?

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 10 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

I'm starting to think this is necessary. Don't use a scary mask like they do, a medical one is good enough, because you don't want to be the reason other people get sick. Or because you are at risk of getting sick. Or because you don't like the taste of boot.

Shades that cover a large area helps too.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Oakleys: They're not just for MAGA any more!

[–] bear@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 1 day ago

Zenni makes a privacy coating that blocks IR cameras that normally see through sunglasses.

https://www.zennioptical.com/id-guard

I spent a little extra on good Ray-Bans RX.

They hide a good area WHILE making me look like a fed in the right clothes and hat. It's really eerie.

My 4a…

We should all wear masks just like they do.

[–] bambam@piefed.social 19 points 20 hours ago (6 children)

Why don't Democrats run on a privacy platform. Sure there's Senator Wyden, but other dems need to be on this. Pivot and make the Democratic party the privacy party.

[–] FlyingCircus@lemmy.world 12 points 18 hours ago

Stop wishing for the democrats to come and save you. They never will, we have to do it ourselves.

If you go to a protest, wear a gaiter and glasses and ballcap just like those ICE fuckers. And depending where you live you might just want to make this your default outfit for leaving the house at all.

The U.S. Department of Defense quickly viewed biometric data and what it called “identity dominance” as the cornerstone of multiple counterterrorism and counterinsurgency strategies. Identity dominance means being able to keep track of people the military considers a potential threat regardless of aliases, and ultimately denying organizations the ability to use anonymity to hide their activities.

By 2004, thousands of U.S. military personnel had been trained to collect biometric data to support the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. By 2007, U.S. forces were collecting biometric data primarily through mobile devices such as the Biometric Automated Toolset (BAT) and Handheld Interagency Identity Detection Equipment (HIIDE). BAT includes a laptop, fingerprint reader, iris scanner and camera. HIIDE is a single small device that incorporates a fingerprint reader, iris scanner and camera. Users of these devices can collect iris and fingerprint scans and facial photos, and match them to entries in military databases and biometric watchlists.

Any ICE or DHS employees who try to scan my face aren't allowed to walk away unscathed.

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 9 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

What open source technologies does it use? Someone could do a supply-side attack.

[–] waldo_was_here@piefed.social 6 points 1 day ago

Send ICE to antartica

[–] rockettaco37@feddit.nu 6 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

And unless they can show me a warrant, I'll be wearing a mask.

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 11 points 17 hours ago (3 children)

They will just beat the shit out of you and pull down your mask and do it regardless

[–] rockettaco37@feddit.nu 6 points 16 hours ago

And this is exactly what the Second Amendment is designed for.

Don't tell the GOP that though
