Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

They have no path to win midterms, and they will run first. Funny thing is that they literally have nowhere to run. 🤣

Poor deluded souls thinking that there are going to be midterms (or at least fair ones).

Trump is desperately trying to incite something to declare martial law. And if he doesn't manage to do it, closer to the midterms he'll just drop all pretense and do it anyway. That's...what....he....fucking....does.

We can hope

So they know they're crooks.

"I've got you right where I want you: with a knee in my back and a gun to my head! Just wait... juuuust you wait..."

They could always run to Louisiana.

That's a funny way of spelling Argentina.

[–] silicon@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago

As we all know Argentina has a thing about letting Nazis hide there.

If you have a choice to flee or just stay in power, ignoring or manipulating election outcomes, what would you do?

[–] maam@feddit.uk 6 points 6 days ago

They’re cowards in the end with no principles.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago

We can only hope.

It would be great for America if Thiel, Miller, Bezos, and the rest of the gang left. Problem is, they become an issue for whichever nation hosts them.

Hopefully it is Argentina that they exile themselves to.

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago

Russia would take them in i reckon

“a number of top Trump administration officials may resign in an effort to avoid being “slapped with subpoenas” from a Democrat-controlled Congress”

Scared of getting subpoenad? How about DON’T COMMIT THE CRIME! That’s why we have these things called LAWS. Don’t commit the crime if you can’t do the time!

The worst of it won’t even be them getting arrested, but will be the years if not decades, if ever, trying to clean up the infrastructural, economic, reputation and political damage they’ve done to this country in their wake. Ugh.

the next Democratic president will have to make fixing the damage Trump has done to the country and our system of government a priority

That will take many decades to undo the damage and restore (foreign) trust and credebility.

[–] MourningDove@lemmy.zip 3 points 5 days ago

It’s sad that people still think there’s going to be a fair election if there even is one to begin with.

The terrorists will win. There is no question. Because if they loose, they’ll still win. Executive orders and martial law will guarantee it.

[–] santa@sh.itjust.works 3 points 6 days ago

Losers and TACOs flee. Good riddance.

[–] hkspowers@lemmy.today 3 points 5 days ago

That should keep the nazi hunters busy for a while, they were running out of targets, but now the pond has been restocked.
