Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

because white supremacist Christian nationalism is being ushered in via far-right populist rhetoric. fascism is utilizing the angry and bigoted, the angry and misguided, and the angry and fearful.

And the "resistance" is doing fuck all

[–] chosensilence@pawb.social 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

it does feel that way. i hope i'm merely unaware of something that is being orchestrated.

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 month ago (5 children)

Nothing is being orchestrated. The "left" is sitting comfortably at home, posting on Lemmy and Reddit about how upset they are, then planning their weekend activities.

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 month ago

This is deffo what it feels like but that’s because no plan worth its shit is gonna get talked about anywhere on the internet. It’s gonna happen between people irl in the backs of coffee shops and shit.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The revolution will not be televised. It won't be on the Internet either.

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca -5 points 1 month ago

Not least of all because it doesn’t exist

[–] chosensilence@pawb.social 2 points 1 month ago

i understand your confidence in your pessimism here but i'm holding out hope, i guess. a form of self-defense on my part, perhaps lol.

Well, partly true. For example, this week I spent planning a weekend range trip for myself, and several comrades. There will be a stop the bleed class hosted at the beginning of it, before pew pews start.

Next weekend, planning a comrade and camping trip, where we will get to practice things like unit movement tactics (For hunting, of course!), living communally, and prepping a parcel of land for the possible need to house several dozens of people for an extended period.

How would you know?

[–] DiaDeLosMuertos@aussie.zone 8 points 1 month ago

Might I add the angry and uneducated.

Thanks for sharing this! More people need to learn this history, especially now.

Another strip, on how fascists manufacture create fake crises as excuses for their seizure of more power, would also be instructive.

[–] Jumi@lemmy.world 27 points 1 month ago (2 children)

He gets the Horst Wessel treatment

[–] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

Came here to say this. Fascists need a martyr & will make one if necessary.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 month ago

Horst Carotid-Wessel.

[–] Sterile_Technique@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Just another of many, many parallels the path we're on has to Nazi and pre-Nazi Germany.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horst_Wessel

[–] d33pblu3g3n3@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago

Because the fascists needed of a martyr.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 8 points 1 month ago

He's not. Only about a third of America are MAGA, they just make a LOT of noise. They can elevate him to martyr status in their own little alternative reality universe, but the ACTUAL reality that 2/3 of America, and the rest of the world, and the entire rest of the universe lives in, is under no obligation to indulge their perverse little fantasies.

[–] ubergeek@lemmy.today 8 points 1 month ago

Fair chance it's because the Imperial States of America is a far-right fascist nation?

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Because everything is stupid in this timeline?

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 month ago

Because the rest of you ALLOWED IT.

[–] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Good for business that's why

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 month ago

Forcing their cultish beliefs on us is one of the ways that they know they're powerful.

We should be rejecting their false idols as soon as they put them up. I'll boycott any business that pays homage to that grimy little Nazi and will do my best to destroy any public monument to him and his pig beliefs.
