I've met him. He owns a warehouse with some office space that my wife and I rented out for a bit. Pretty chill guy, but doesn't understand his minor Internet fame.

Took some cash out of our deposit because we didn't sweep and mop the floors on our way out.

That photo is from when the gas main blew up right?

I was working at AmFam at the time.

I think the photo was from years before. I believe Les was chief of the volunteer fire department by then.

Do we have a nominative determinism community?

How is that link supposed to work? I browse Lemmy via old.lemmy.world in a browser, and those ! links do nada for me.

Isn't this really more of an inaptonym than an antonym?

Oh! I pronounced Les with a voiced final consonant, so it never even occurred to me to pronounce it that way. That's clever.

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 1 points 59 minutes ago (1 children)

I'm not sure what that means. Did you think it was pronounced Lez/Liz?

[–] Zagorath@aussie.zone 1 points 14 minutes ago

Yeah. Like "Leslie", without the "lie". Or like the French plural definite article (when the final consonant is pronounced due to a liaison) "les".

does this count as nominal determinism
