Ima be honest: Colbert can do better than this show.
Strangers with Candy was peak absurd humor and The Colbert Report was one of the best political satire shows at the time.
I'd love to see him do something new.

Maybe the Colbert Report can come back instead
Colbert was never the right guy for the job. He plays a snooty conservative, from a bygone era (that role stuck to him).
It's supposed to be an everyman show. You need a comedian whose an everyman comedian. Bill Burr, but I doubt he would have gone for it. Charlie Day. Even H. Jon Benjamin if they had a good enough writers room.
You need someone who can pretend to be clumsy, and a bit discombobulated - but hold the train on the tracks still (like David Latterman could). That's not one of Colbert's skill sets. He's too well put together to be an everyman.
I upvoted for the Jon Benjamin mention. Jon Benjamin Has a Van is so fucking funny.
And I love Bob's Burgers, but Home Movies was magic and I consider it his peak VA work.
CBS just showing how much of Trump's boot they can fit in their mouths. Disgusting greedy little piggies need to get their merger approved so let's bend over for daddy Trump... I hope they still get denied.
