President Donald Trump is lashing out at his own supporters as he tries to clamp down on criticism over his administration’s handling of much-hyped records in the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking investigation, which Trump now calls a “Hoax.”

“Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax, and my PAST supporters have bought into this “bull——,” hook, line, and sinker,” Trump wrote Wednesday on his Truth Social site, using an expletive in his post. “They haven’t learned their lesson, and probably never will, even after being conned by the Lunatic Left for 8 long years.”

“Let these weaklings continue forward and do the Democrats work, don’t even think about talking of our incredible and unprecedented success, because I don’t want their support anymore! Thank you for your attention to this matter,” he went on.

Man, it would be incredible if Epstein and Trump's inability to shut up about it is what brings this regime down.

[–] ohellidk@sh.itjust.works 127 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Its a nice thought, but I worry about all the judges he appointed, and how long they last beyond his presidency.

If Luigi is found not guilty things could get wild.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 62 points 3 days ago (1 children)

if he's found guilty, they're gonna get wilder

[–] PancakesCantKillMe@lemmy.world 28 points 3 days ago

That's why his case will linger in limbo until people forget.

Back when Trump put up his tower, Jackie Kennedy Onassis was famously fighting to preserve New York landmarks like Grand Central Station. Trump's own architect told him to leave the façade of the building alone, but Trump overruled him. Trump blew the perfect opportunity to get in good with elites because he was too greedy and arrogant.

Bonus- there's a guest apperance by John Barron!!

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 39 points 3 days ago (5 children)

His buildings are just so ugly too, fr. You gotta try hard to be that ugly.

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 33 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I was living in New York when the Tower first went up. When I was in the area I decided to stroll in and see what the controversy was about. At street level it's just black glass. Inside it's all gold with a waterfall. I thought it looked like a big golden toilet.

Dude is freaking out because he's finally being treated like any other politician, and his pathetic ego can't handle it.

[–] zildjiandrummer1@lemmy.world 138 points 3 days ago (2 children)

PLEASE let this be the beginning of the end. I've aged like 5 years in the last 6 months.

Also for anyone seeing this comment, here is the testimony of Katie Johnson who claimed Trump raped her and other 13 year old girls multiple times. Fair warning: it goes into excruciating and brutal details:

Please save and spread.

Trump went on Howard Stern and boasted about barging into the dressing rooms at the Miss Teen USA pageant. He famously perved on his own daughter. This is nothing new

[–] zildjiandrummer1@lemmy.world 38 points 3 days ago (3 children)

It's nothing new to anyone not in the cult, but this could be the biggest chance of getting through to them. We need to get them to see the truth and use this tiny crack in their mental fortress to open it up: "well if he blatantly lied about this (based on all of this proof they've seen) what else has he been lying about?"

I know that's probably naive and overly hopeful, but I'm still doing my part.

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 32 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I've been hoping for his people to see the light since 2015.

They stuck with him when he admitted that Trump University was a scam...

They stuck with him when Mexico didn't pay for the Wall...

They stuck with him when a million people died of Covid...

I hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

MAGAts tend to suffer from sunk cost fallacy, among a myriad of other nonsense delusions.

let this be the beginning of the end

Fascism doesn't voluntarily give up power. There's no way that scandal brings down the regime. They didn't install tech bros as officers in the military because they intend to respect the will of the electorate.

So without a doubt 100% confirmed as legitimate

[–] redsand@lemmy.dbzer0.com 68 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Yes. He raped a 13 year old that looked liked Ivanka and a 12 year old. Dressed them as maids. Told them they could have done better after. There's a picture of him with the 13 year old.

This is interesting... In the past when Trump has tried to push back on his followers he's followed the TACO principle. Like when he wanted to take credit for the COVID vaccines but his audience was anti-vax he quickly softened his language to "take it... if you want it tho. Maybe it's poison who knows?"

He's never been a leader - he's just been an amalgamation of all of the racism and conspiracy theories his followers have. He says "yes" or "maybe" to everything. I think this is the first time he's really said "no" though?

That’s generally what cult leaders do, they don’t bend to their followers, they beat them down as weak and fake believers until they fall back in line. And the ones who do get out immediately become the enemy and the devil in one.

This is Jim Jones/David Koresh type shit

Calls his supporters "weaklings". Bold move, let's see how that works out...

[–] womjunru@lemmy.cafe 47 points 3 days ago (1 children)

His supporters love abuse. They will change to fit his vision.

It could create a situation where a supporter doesn't want to be weak, so they completely shift their stance - almost denying their previous stance. I just threw some popcorn in the microwave for the upcoming show...

MAGAts are like children refusing to eat their veggies. They're going to resist with this whole Epstein thing until their Daddy looks at them sternly and tells them to fall in line....or else.

It's performative noncompliance. At the end of the day, when the going gets tough, they'll show their support for a felon rapist (pedo?), because that's what they've always done, without fail.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago (7 children)

Not everyone is just spewing talking points, there's a LOT of maga folks who actually do give a shit about this. This is his biggest betrayal by far.

The #1 thing that unites (most of) the left and right is our shared hatred for the rich and powerful. Trump is outright saying he's breaking his promise specifically to protect the rich and powerful.

Wait, wasn't your whole political philosophy built around ignorance and spineless loyalty? If you train them to fall for scams and conspiracies don't get shocked when they go for another conspiracy that you don't like.

...because I don’t want their support anymore!

Damn, he's gone "full Hitler in the bunker". "Those damn traitors! They failed me!"

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 18 points 2 days ago (2 children)

he’s gone “full Hitler in the bunker”

There's just one more important step for that to be true ... and I don't mean poisoning his dog.

[–] athairmor@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I’m guessing he has seen that enough on letters from companies and lawyers about his fuck ups and it makes him feel weak. So, he uses it when he wants someone else to feel weak.

Thinking about how low these folks usually go, I'm wondering why they haven't just worked up a fake hatchet job file selectively incriminating their enemies and exonerating themselves. It possibly wouldn't matter if it were called into question by evidence of tampering. Their devotees are indoctrinated enough to swallow almost anything -especially if it reinforced their biases against people they've already been trained to hate. What fallout are they afraid of in releasing a doctored list? I'd wager this will be the eventual outcome. A fake file that most know to be fake, but will mollify his base.

[–] AcidiclyBasicGlitch@sh.itjust.works 23 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I have a feeling that's what the next move will be.

He already told Pam Bondi to release "whatever she thinks is credible."

The more he reacts, the guiltier he looks. What a morone.

Hopefully he keeps attacking his own base, that's what I want to see

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 21 points 3 days ago

Hmmm. Wonder how this will play out.

He seems awfully angry about a hoax. Just saying

[–] SheeEttin@lemmy.zip 18 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Is anyone actually turning on him because of this?

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 19 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

They voted for him in November despite him already being a convicted felon and adjudicated rapist, not to mention literal traitor for inciting an insurrection and illegally attempting to overturn an election by threatening the Georgia Secretary of State and taking part in the Fake Elector's Scheme.

Being a child fucker is just another thing for them to throw on the pile of things they've chosen to memory-hole.

They will ALWAYS support him NO MATTER WHAT. That's how cults work.

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

Nope.

They are turning on his underlings, but I have not seen a single major influencer call Trump out directly. "It’s Bondi's fault," is the party line, which is unreal given how unflinchingly loyal she’s been.

The headlines claiming Trumps supporters are turning on him feel like clickbait.

One of Trump's campaign promises was that he'd release the Epstein client list.

So, Trump says it exists when it is convenient for him to say it exists, and then he says it doesn't exist when it is inconvenient for him to say it exists.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago
[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago (18 children)

The one thing that is in the back of my mind is what is Trump going to do next in order to attempt to cover up this Epstein list situation? Will he declare war on a foreign country? Will he declare war on the people of the United States who stand against him?
