Just finished X-files. Mixed feelings about the potential 'new episodes.'
I never really rewatched the originals again. But the “remakes” from like 8 years ago(?) were really good imo. There were a couple that were especially hilarious. I recall on the originals, every now and then the writers would really be self aware and self referential, to poke fun at the show itself. A couple of those remakes really captured that spirit. I highly recommend.
By remake do you mean shows like Fringe?
No, they did a “remake” like 8 or so years ago. Legit x files with original cast. Maybe remake isn’t the right word, but the show was over and off the air for like 15 years before that.
Kind of like what they tried to do with arrested development, except that one sucked.

Im on a rewatch right now, just hit season 10 last night, and am trying to decide whether or not to keep going.
the fact that I didn't thought about the x files because I watched it when it was originally running makes me sad. x files is my favorite show ever, i just forget that those episodes exist and pretend it was always only great
Those are not potential — it was a completely new forgettable season from just a few years ago.
But the original series is great — obviously it peters out a bit toward the end but first seven or eight seasons are straight gold.
