I never paid more than once for any iPhone I’ve ever had

[–] null@piefed.nullspace.lol 7 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago) (1 children)

What does that have to do with Plex dropping support for people that paid the one-time purchase?

[–] watson@lemmy.world -3 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago) (1 children)

If you paid the one-time purchase for a lifetime Plexpass, then Plex did not drop any support for you.

If you subscribed to a monthly pass, then you are beholden to the terms of that contract.

Do you think you’ve been mistreated by a choice you made willingly?

[–] null@piefed.nullspace.lol 7 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

I'm not talking about the lifetime Plex pass or monthly pass.

If you paid the one-time purchase to unlock streaming to your device, Plex has stopped honouring that deal. You now either need to pay for a Remote Streaming Pass, or a Plex Pass.

[–] watson@lemmy.world -5 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

False. My streaming still works.

Are you hallucinating?

[–] null@piefed.nullspace.lol 4 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

... Because you bought a Plex Pass, which I specifically said is not what I'm talking about.

Are you dyslexic?

[–] watson@lemmy.world -5 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

You’re the one claiming things that aren’t true

Maybe take a break from your hate session and touch some grass

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 6 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Sorry man but it's you who is misunderstanding.

Plex used to let you buy a "license" for a one-time fee which allowed you to stream to phones. You did not need a Plex Pass, lifetime or otherwise.

Recently, Plex announced that you no longer need to pay this one-time fee. However, you can no longer stream videos to your phone without Plex Pass. If you have Plex Pass, you are obviously unaffected

This basically invalidated the paid licenses of anyone not paying for Plex Pass.

That is what they're talking about.

[–] watson@lemmy.world -5 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago) (1 children)

Plex used to let you buy a "license" for a one-time fee which allowed you to stream to phones. You did not need a Plex Pass, lifetime or otherwise.

Correct. Both myself and several friends are enjoying our lifetime Plex pass nearly 2 decades later.

As for the rest, none of that changes anything for me. It changes things for people who did not buy a lifetime one time payment Plex pass.

So are you done lying or was it not really a lie? It was just that you were too stupid to figure out subscription terms?

If you pay once for a Plex subscription, the lifetime pass, you only pay once. I’m sorry to hear that this condition was too difficult for you to figure out.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 5 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Did you....read what I wrote? Even the part you quoted? I'm guessing not because you didn't notice I'm not the person you've been arguing. I'm just a bystander who saw someone being a confidentially incorrect.

The one-time license we're referring to is different than Plex Pass. What part aren't you understanding? I'd break it down for you again with links but I'm doubting you'd even read it lol

[–] watson@lemmy.world -5 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago) (2 children)

You’re either lying or hallucinating again. There was only ever one one time Plex pass sold. And it was the Plex pass. For a lifetime.

Once again, I’m very sorry that you seem to have some extremely difficult mental issues that prevent you from understanding the terms that Plex offers. Millions of others seemed to manage just fine, but perhaps, you should have someone helping you out.

Really, I don’t know who told you this shit, but they were wrong and so are you

Downvote me all you like, but it doesn’t change the facts

[–] null@piefed.nullspace.lol 6 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

There was only ever one one time Plex pass sold. And it was the Plex pass. For a lifetime.

Correct. Which is why both of us keep saying we're not talking about the Plex Pass. We're talking about the one-time purchase to unlock remote streaming on Android/iOS.

[–] watson@lemmy.world -5 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I’m talking about Plex pass. If you’re talking about something else, go to another post or thread.

Whataboutiam

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 3 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

You're right that downvotes don't change facts. And the fact is that Plex used to sell a license for phone streaming

Here's an official post referencing its removal since you're too pigheaded to accept that you're wrong

Our Android and iOS mobile apps previously required a one-time activation fee or Plex Pass to remove the one-minute playback limitation when streaming content from a Plex Media Server.

[–] watson@lemmy.world -4 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago) (2 children)

So the fuck what?

Sounds like you’re stuck in the past and trying to use something that happened decades ago as the one and only argument you have.

Thing is: it doesn’t fucking matter. Nobody fucking cares. You’re crying into the wind.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 4 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Hilarious. From "you're lying" to "it doesn't matter anyway"! Are you by chance employed by Plex?

It's relevant to the conversation at hand. There has been literally no crying, just acknowledging that Plex changes their terms even if you paid in full.

You are the only one with elevated emotions. Perhaps it's time for some chamomile tea and a nice little nap.

[–] watson@lemmy.world -3 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago) (1 children)

Keep crying over the myths and legends you’ve been told.

I treat my parents the same way when they get into that bullshit “god” crap, lol

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 4 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Oh damn didn't know I was arguing with a literal child, my bad.

You're really back to "you're lying," though? Guess I was right about your inability (or decision not to) read.

I hope you think about this thread later. Do some self reflection, bud. Ask yourself why you lashed out. What did you feel when presented with the evidence that you were wrong? Why did you keep digging your heels in when you realized that they did indeed used to offer a paid license that was separate from Plex Pass? Why insult the intelligence of the people teaching you?

[–] watson@lemmy.world -3 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

I’m sorry you’re feelings got hurt.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 3 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

I'm sorry you are feelings got hurt

[–] watson@lemmy.world -3 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I’m sorry to hear of your troubles. Best wishes.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 3 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

What a shame you didn't just say "ah my bad, I misunderstood" when shown you were wrong

[–] watson@lemmy.world -3 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

If that had happened, I would have.

Perhaps you should take your own advice

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 3 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Are you avoiding the link I posted because easier to live in ignorance, watson?

[–] watson@lemmy.world -3 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I’m sorry to hear of your troubles. Best wishes.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 3 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I'm sorry to have been exposed to your troubles, watson. You got thoroughly dunked on and are probably really upset

[–] watson@lemmy.world -3 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I’m sorry to hear of your troubles. Best wishes.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I'm sorry to hear of your watson

[–] watson@lemmy.world -3 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

I’m sorry to hear of your troubles. Best wishes.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago
[–] null@piefed.nullspace.lol 3 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

So what you're saying is that you were completely wrong and so smug and confident about it?

What a shocker.

[–] watson@lemmy.world -4 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago) (1 children)

You said that. And you have decided that such a falsehood should define your reality.

You have my pity

[–] null@piefed.nullspace.lol 5 points 14 hours ago

Better luck next time!
