You did mention the citizenship status of the people you think she does this for, for some reason though)

"Immigrant" is not a citizenship status. Green card, visa, undocumented, citizen, are citizenship statuses.

I will prefer someone who's also willing to endure violence and legal consequences to protect anyone in your community.

... Do you think she's the only one who's done this? Like honest to god? Because, to be clear, she is not. Off the top of my head biss as well, though I probably won't be heading to him in the primary. You don't understand the district, which is why you think she's the only one like that

You will find the same list of issues on damn near every dem candidate in the district. Her policies are not special here. They're not different. They're the baseline norm

[–] Leomas@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Don't play fucking stupid, you know what I mean and I'm not an english speaker. Are you dense, I already said I don't care if you don't want to vote for her, I just think you have a really big fucking rage about her for a very fucking petty reason, leading me to believe there's some underlying motivation for having a grudge. Or you're just an asshole, who's petulent because you haven't done anything in your life and vent that rage by insulting a woman who's been beaten up in your district, congrats. She's not gonna throw you off a roof because of her last name by the way, just to be clear.

[–] Fredthefishlord@lemmy.blahaj.zone -1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Quite literally, the reason is stated. She doesn't live in the area.

She's not gonna throw you off a roof because of her last name by the way, just to be clear.

I am not a racist despite your rabid accusations

You not speaking English seems to be very related to your lack of understanding

[–] Leomas@lemmy.world 1 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago) (1 children)

And voting based on that is childish if you agree with the policies.

I haven't called you racist, trying to look for a valid (logically, not morally) reason for your very obvious distaste for someone who is an extremely solid progressive I thought maybe a bit of internalized islamophobia could be one possibility.

Sorry, but your points aren't hard to understand, they are just childish.

And I should have added native English speaker, I'm a fluent English speaker on A1 level, born and living in Switzerland, so you've been argueing with someone on a different continent. Instead of just dodging what policies you disagree with you could have just dismissed everything I say or do 😉

[–] Fredthefishlord@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago) (1 children)

... Islamic? Her last name is Islamic? You think I knew that?

And voting based on that is childish if you agree with the policies.

Childish to vote against someone who doesn't care to actually research the community or live in it? No, that's not childish. Not when there's candidates with actively proven records like biss, who've shown to be strong on issues I care about like bike lanes and walk ability...

Instead of just dodging what policies you disagree

I made a clear answer to the question. Stop pretending I didn't. Clearly they are hard for you to understand. I made it clear. Her issues are boilerplate, not special in the district. So it's better to vote for a local who understands the other issues at play, not just immigration, especially when we have people on the ballot with proven records.

so you've been argueing with someone on a different continent

So? The only thing that matter for is if you don't understand that politicians are meant to represent their districts, or if you don't understand the history of how bad, bought politicians tend to love to live outside of the areas of their districts.

I love how now you pretend you're fluent after claiming to not speak English. Nice. I don't know the ranking, the languages I know do not use it.

[–] Leomas@lemmy.world 1 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago) (1 children)

The first part is giving me weird vibes.

Do you believe she would oppose bike lanes and walkability?

Again, you vote for someone else, that's fine with me, but you haven't been painting her as just someone with boilerplate politics, honestly it seems like you are kind of obsessed with her.

I live in Switzerland, we have no Lobbying laws, that happens all the time here, but what gives you the idea Kat has been bought?

I am fluent in English, sorry that you can't destinguish between not being an English speaker and not being fluent in English.

What language you speak doesn't use it? I have a Cambridge University certificate stating my ranking, so English uses it. I'm pretty sure all languages originating in Europe use the system.

[–] Fredthefishlord@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

honestly it seems like you are kind of obsessed with her.

I'm annoyed with how people push her as a forefront of progressive politics when her politics are relatively normal. It's extremely relevant to me because I live in il-9, which will obviously make me much more invested than a typical lemmy user.

Do you believe she would oppose bike lanes and walkability?

No, but I'd rather a candidate who consistently and strongly pushes rather than being passively supportive

but you haven't been painting her as just someone with boilerplate politics

I'm pretty sure I stated her politics were neomal for the district multiple times in this convo.

I live in Switzerland, we have no Lobbying laws, that happens all the time here, but what gives you the idea Kat has been bought?

It's not as much I think she's bought as much as I think it demonstrates a lack of loyalty to the community typical to be people who end up corrupt. Basically, a risk factor.

I'm pretty sure all languages originating in Europe use the system.

English is my native language, but Japanese is my 2nd

[–] Leomas@lemmy.world 1 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I think we should try to balance public image with solid policies. We live in hard times globally as left-wing people, we can't afford to throw away solid people because they aren't radical enough.

Fair, vote for someone else, but if she has publicity and solid, if not perfect, views, she's still a positive force globally.

Yes, your rage is just weird.

My assumption is every politician will be corrupt in some way, I will always try to push society to the left, even if it's just a tiny bit.

Japanese seems to have N1-N5 levels, it's similar. A1-3 are pretty much fluent, B1-3 can do daily life in the language, C1-3 is the basics.

Gonna assume your japanese would be A level, since you mention it as your second language, props for that.

[–] Fredthefishlord@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (1 children)

She's not pushing anything to the left. Again, not special for the district in question. Against the other front runners she's about the same, possibly only more left on immigration.

She's blatantly.vote buying, pretending she'll have the power to do things she will not and buying things with campaign funds to just give out... That's vote buying in my opinion. Over promising too far to be reasonable. Her lying about moving into the district is also just off the bat lying, also not ideal for a politician.

I'm closest to a high b1 level likely. I don't fit into traditional levels very well in the n system as it focuses primarily on comprehension without no speaking input. And my knowledge acquisition is random. I would pass an n2, and would certainly fail n1. I consider it a 2nd language because I can communicate complex thoughts in it.

[–] Leomas@lemmy.world 1 points 15 minutes ago* (last edited 14 minutes ago)

I think I know what your problem is, you're an egoist, you only care about yourself, you don't even view the rise of fascism as a problem, as long as your life doesn't change. You're a collaborator.

If you think using your campaign funds to give back to people is vote buying, you're not thinking from the view of a community.

Your japanese answer just proves my first point, that's the system for Japanese, and if you have problems with comprehension, have you considered that maybe that's the reason they focus on comprehension?
